There is a sports park hidden underground in the western outer ring of Shanghai. During the Changning District special event of the "High quality Development in Shencheng" series of theme city government press conferences held on August 31st, reporters experienced this underground construction area of nearly 40000 square meters of "treasure space" at the Hongqiao Sports Park located in the Hongqiao Airport Economic Demonstration Zone.

At present, Hongqiao Sports Park and Lingkong Music Park have been connected to the ecological greenway of the outer ring forest belt in Changning District and the 11.2 kilometer slow traffic system of the Suzhou River Changning section. Next, Changning District will utilize the ecological advantages of the outer ring forest belt and combine landscape station design to create the outer ring city park, realizing the transformation of the city's "green ribbon" from a protective forest to an urban park. This year, it will also serve as a sample exhibition area for the Urban Space Art Season.

The underground "interstellar sports metropolis"

The Hongqiao Sports Park is located at 820 Suining Road, adjacent to the Outer Ring Road to the east, Suining Road to the west, Beizhai Road Elevated Road to the north, and Tianshan West Road to the south. It is only 3.8 kilometers away from the Hongqiao Comprehensive Transportation Hub in a straight line, and the main entrance of the park is 1.3 kilometers away from the Songhong Road Station of the Rail Transit Line 2.

It is reported that the ground green space of Hongqiao Sports Park covers a total area of approximately 118900 square meters, with a total construction area of 41600 square meters, including an underground construction area of 39600 square meters, breaking the spatial restrictions caused by height restrictions around the airport. There is a single building on the ground of the park, and the underground space is spacious. It is divided into five major areas, including an underground garage with 270 parking spaces, a comprehensive sports center, a swimming pool, a sunken central square, and supporting commercial and leisure facilities.

Entering the Hongqiao Sports Park, not only is there a vast green space in sight, but walking down the steps into the underground space, you can also see venues for large-scale sports such as swimming, basketball, badminton, squash, fencing, and skateboarding. Taking into account the location characteristics of the Lingkong Park near Hongqiao Airport, the underground space design of the entire sports park is inspired by aerospace elements, creating a unique atmosphere of "interstellar sports metropolis". The theme sports venue located underground is named after the eight major planets. When sports enthusiasts meet to participate in activities, they can report the planet name to the staff and find the corresponding location.

The Hongqiao Sports Park also carries the important function of a national level airport economic demonstration zone, and will be developed into a new sports and cultural landmark radiating to the Greater Hongqiao area, helping to create a first-class business environment in the airport area.

Hong Feifei, Deputy General Manager of Lingkong Company, introduced that the Hongqiao Sports Park, which is deeply integrated into the Lingkong Economic Park, will fully integrate ecological, public welfare, professional, intelligent, fashionable and other elements, actively introduce and cultivate sports events, assist in cultivating sports talents, incubate sports communities, and carry out quality activities, especially to meet the diverse needs of surrounding enterprises, white-collar workers, and community residents for fitness, team building, competitions, youth training, leisure, etc., making the park more comprehensive and one-stop functional characteristics.

Su Liqiong, Deputy Director of the Planning and Resources Bureau of Changning District, introduced that Changning District is one of the earliest central urban areas in Shanghai to initiate urban renewal.
