In July 1926, the Secretariat of the Communist Party of China Central Committee was established in Shanghai. In November 1927, the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China rented No. 1141 Wenyu Village, Gordon Road, for the central leadership to read and handle telegrams and convene meetings of the Central Political Bureau. From 1927 to 1931, the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China was responsible for the reception, storage, and some confidential work of important documents and materials of the Party Central Committee. Zhou Enlai, Deng Xiaoping, and others often come here to review documents and attend secret meetings of the Central Political Bureau. During this period, a group of unsung heroes who were absolutely loyal to the cause of the Party and made silent contributions emerged. They were loyal to their mission and unswervingly committed to their mission. They wrote the epic hymns of heroes, left moving stories, became the spiritual wealth of the CPC from generation to generation, and vividly explained the great spirit of party building.
Carefully repair and restore the original historical appearance of the building

The Former Site Memorial Hall is a two-story stone gate building facing north and south, with a brick and wood structure. It has a red and green plain brick exterior wall, a red brick decorated lintel, and a Baroque style Guanyin Dou style mountain wall. The decoration on the east facade along the street is extremely exquisite, with Western architectural elements in the details of the exterior walls, and finely carved wooden railings with Chinese charm on the overhanging balcony. "The restoration is based on historical research and follows the principle of 'repairing as old as possible with minimal intervention' to restore the original historical appearance of the building to the greatest extent possible." The relevant person in charge of Jing'an District introduced that the floor of the old site is a mosaic pattern, detailed and complex, but severely damaged. The repair team visited the country for sampling and invited cultural heritage and architectural experts for multiple consultations, ultimately confirming that the mosaic found in Guangdong matched the original mosaic the best.
Panoramic display of the Secretariat's struggle in Shanghai
In June 2021, the General Office of the Communist Party of China and the State Council officially approved the construction of a memorial hall for the former site of the Secretariat of the Communist Party of China in Shanghai. In the same year, an internal trial operation was carried out through the exhibition of historical materials.
The old site memorial hall, which is about to officially open, has a total exhibition area of 505 square meters. It presents for the first time a comprehensive, full process, and panoramic view of the struggle of the Secretariat of the Communist Party of China in Shanghai. The reporter saw on site that the former site memorial hall is divided into four parts: the former site restoration area, the basic exhibition area, the temporary exhibition area, and the square sculpture area. The exhibition is divided into three parts: "Clear Clouds and Miles," "Dark Night Starlight," and "Quenched into Gold." The exhibition systematically introduces the origin and establishment of the Party's secretarial work, their perseverance and development under the White Terror, showcasing the special achievements made by the Party's secretarial frontline workers who are loyal to their mission, deeply conceal their achievements, and make contributions to the cause of the Party and the people. It praises their noble character of loyalty, selflessness, fearlessness, and silent dedication to the Party in difficult and dangerous environments.
