The staff of the lost and found office at the station explained that currently, the station receives an average of over 600 lost items per day, and around 300 lost items are returned to their original owners every day. "This year, passengers can be said to be traveling in retaliation, with a passenger flow exceeding that of 2019, and the daily average number of lost items received is almost twice that of the same period in previous years." Zhou Xuan from the Xinshang Service Studio at the Shanghai Railway Station also told reporters that due to the heavy workload of collecting and organizing lost items, as well as handling passenger lost and found needs, the lost and found office at the station has added staff, and almost all members of the Xinshang Service Studio and station duty officers have helped together.
The reporter saw at the scene that the staff were encoding the lost items. Items that were not claimed on the day will be transferred to the transit warehouse. If no one claims them for more than 7 days, they will be transferred to the large warehouse. Almost everything is at risk of being lost, from food, drinks, clothes, glasses, hats, umbrellas, phones, headphones, power banks, thermoses, wallets, keys, documents, to backpacks, suitcases, wheelchairs, baby strollers and other large items, it can be said that there are only unexpected things that cannot be lost by careless people. Some of these lost items were found at the station security checkpoint, waiting hall, ticket hall, and bathroom, while others were lost by passengers on board.

If a lost item is found, passengers can use the Railway 12306 website or APP to find the "Lost Items" option in the "My" option, fill in the information according to the service form content, and register online; You can also call 12306 customer service to transfer to manual customer service, explaining information such as the train station, the characteristics of lost items, and where they may be lost. In terms of collection, in addition to scheduling a time to collect at the station site, the station can also directly send back lost items by express delivery.
Perhaps some passengers believe that lost items are not worth money and that the probability of recovery is not high. Regarding this, Zhou Xuan said that as long as each item is handed over to the station staff, it will be properly stored because for the owner, any item may have special significance and cannot be simply measured by money. At the same time, each service order will be carefully handled after being transferred to the lost and found office at the station. If the lost items of the passengers on the day have not been picked up and sent to the lost item warehouse, the staff will also help search. After the number of waiting passengers in the evening decreases, people will be arranged to patrol and search.
