On the evening of July 1st, with traditional architecture from Lane 8 of the current trend as the canvas, accompanied by music beats, iconic Hong Kong attractions such as Victoria Bay, Taiping Peak, and Chinese and Western architecture were projected onto it one by one. This "Hong Kong Festival - Light and Shadow Chapter" lighting show marks the beginning of the "Hong Kong Tide · Art Start FUN" - a series of activities celebrating the 26th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland.
At the event site, there are iconic neon signs, festive lion displays, street signs, and other characteristic displays of Hong Kong. There is also a Hong Kong style market where Hong Kong enterprises participate, and many citizens come to experience the Hong Kong culture.
Cai Liang, Director of the Economic and Trade Office of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government in Shanghai, expressed the hope that this themed event can serve as an opportunity for Shanghai friends to witness, hear, and taste Hong Kong in alleys, and have an "old aftertaste and new understanding" of Hong Kong.
Data shows that since the clearance of Hong Kong and mainland China, the Hong Kong economy has continued to recover, with a year-on-year growth of 2.7% in the first quarter of this year, and an expected annual economic growth of 3.5% to 5.5%. "We certainly hope to move up to 5.5%, so we also hope to receive the support of Shanghai citizens." Cai Liang invited Shanghai citizens, "After customs clearance, the people have not forgotten Hong Kong. Many citizens have set their first destination for leaving Hong Kong, hoping that more tourists will come to Hong Kong to experience the new changes after the epidemic.".
"Shanghai and Hong Kong are important central cities with special status and radiating functions in China," said Kong Fu'an, Director of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the Municipal Government. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Shanghai Hong Kong Cooperation Mechanism. We will take this as a new starting point, work together with the Special Administrative Region Government to showcase our respective strengths and draw a blueprint for cooperation, and contribute the strength of Shanghai and Hong Kong to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
At the event, a cultural performance was held, with multiple Hong Kong artists performing harmonica, jazz, brass, Cantonese opera, and contemporary dance, showcasing the diverse and moving side of Hong Kong.
It is reported that the celebration will continue until July 9th. Among them, cultural performances, Hong Kong style markets, and workshops will be held on July 2nd, 8th, and 9th, and will continue to be open to the public for free.
