The final stop of the "Double Rakhs" China Tour, featuring a world-class team bringing authentic Russian flavor to St. Petersburg | Russia | Russian flavor

On the evening of June 25th, the Shanghai Oriental Art Center Concert Hall was fully booked, marking the final stop of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra's China tour.

In commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the birth of Russian music giant Rahmaninov, conductor Nikolai Alexeyev led St. Petersburg Philharmonic and collaborated with renowned young Russian pianist Daniel Harritonov to bring an exciting performance to the audience.

The Piano Concerto No. 2 in C minor is affectionately referred to as "La Er" by Chinese music fans. Renowned piano soloists such as Wang Yujia, Lang Lang, and Zhang Haochen are all skilled in playing this complex and rich work. And the young pianist Daniel Haritonov who appeared this time is particularly skilled in playing Rachmaninov's works.

And "Symphony No. 2 in E minor" is a work that can be considered a comeback after encountering setbacks in his life. Performing this authentic Russian symphony well is a compulsory course for a top Russian symphony orchestra, and the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra's interpretation of this piece has a textbook like authority.

Over a history of over 140 years, the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra has made its debut for Saint Beethoven's "Solemn Mass" and Tchaikovsky's "Sixth Symphony" Pathetique "; Richard Strauss and von Karajan also commanded the regiment. In the 20th century, composer Shostakovic and Rachmaninov's creations were also closely related to the orchestra. They completed the premiere of Shostakovic's great Seventh Symphony, while his Eighth Symphony was directly dedicated to the master Muravensky, who was conducting the orchestra at the time.

The St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra has been preparing for this China tour for a long time. They are the first world-class band to enter China for a tour since last year. Starting from the National Grand Theatre, they left behind beautiful melodies all the way in Tianjin, Wuhan, Nanjing, Guangzhou, and Changsha, and finally came to a perfect end to this 10 day intensive tour in Shanghai with the combination of "Double Pull Two" songs.

Daniel's mother followed in the footsteps of his tour in China.

Just as Daniel was surrounded by fans busy signing autographs, the band's staff in the concert hall were already busy. Install the command console, arrange the tables and chairs, and move the bass bass one by one into the venue.

The timpani drummer arrived before all other musicians and began tuning the timpani. This inconspicuous position in the last row of the band is actually the soul character who brings rhythm to the entire band.

At 5:30 pm, the musicians gradually arrived at the concert hall. Before the evening performance, there was also a public rehearsal open to some fans, showcasing the daily work of world-renowned bands.

Under the leadership of the band leader, the band completed tuning and waited for the conductor to enter.

Conducting Nikolai Alexeyev, he explained and rehearsed some details of the evening performance repertoire one by one against the notes on the score. The 40 minute rehearsal was very efficient, and after that, the musicians gathered in groups of three to discuss the methods of handling phrases in the score.

At 7:20 pm, before the performance began, the audience of the Oriental Art Center Concert Hall was packed. Dongyi has also set up additional seats, but it is still difficult to find one.

In the first half of the performance, pianist Daniel Haritonov and the orchestra presented Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No. 2 in C minor in full.

The 35 minute brilliant performance earned the handsome young man warm applause from the Chinese audience. He repeatedly returned to the stage to bid farewell, and finally added two more tracks. One of them is the folk song "Kangding Love Song" that pays tribute to the Chinese audience, and the other is the dazzling work "Saber Dance", full of Russian charm.

The second half performance showcased the orchestra's precise interpretation of Rakh music, with a 60 minute finish and enthusiastic responses from the live audience to the musicians.

The visit of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra marks the beginning of this year's visit of world-renowned bands to Shanghai. Not long ago, the French musical "Romeo and Juliet" was staged at the Shanghai Cultural Square. In the second half of this year, a series of well-known dance teams from overseas will also come to the Shanghai International Dance Center for performances and workshops. The continuous recovery of the Shanghai performing arts market is closely linked to the continuous pace of moving towards the world, resonating with the same frequency. It is expected that in the future, more world-class performances will be staged on the Shanghai stage.
