Recently, the unveiling ceremony of the 21st Century Marxism Research Institute of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the "Innovative Development of 21st Century Marxism" seminar were held at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Pan Min, Deputy Minister of the Propaganda Department and Director of the Municipal Civilization Office of the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, Min Hui, Deputy Secretary of the Shanghai Education and Health Work Committee and Deputy Director of the Municipal Education Commission of the Communist Party of China, Han Qingxiang, former member of the Central Party School Committee, first-class professor, and President of the 21st Century Marxist Research Association, and Lin Litao, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, attended and delivered speeches.

Pan Min stated that the Propaganda Department of the Municipal Party Committee will fully support the construction and development of the 21st Century Marxist Research Institute, and promote the institute to become an important platform for the city's Marxist theoretical disciplines.

Min Hui stated that the Municipal Education and Health Work Party Committee and the Municipal Education Commission attach great importance to the construction of Marxist colleges and Marxist theoretical disciplines, and regard supporting the cultivation of several interdisciplinary research platforms such as Marxist research institutes as an important task. The aim is to strengthen platform construction, concretize the requirements for maintaining the guiding position of Marxism, and promote the coordinated and linked development of Marxist theoretical disciplines and other philosophical and social science disciplines. He requested that the research institute focus on answering new issues of the times, carry out organized scientific research, produce significant results, and transform the results into high-quality teaching resources for cultivating morality and talent.

Lin Litao pointed out that promoting research on Marxism in the 21st century and continuously opening up new horizons of Marxism with Chinese characteristics and modernization is an important theoretical responsibility of our era. I hope that with the support of colleagues in the academic community, the research institute can improve its level and characteristics, and strive to become a high-end platform for 21st century Marxist research rooted in Shanghai, radiating across the country, and facing the world.

Xing Yunwen, Dean of the School of Marxism at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, introduced that the overall construction idea of the 21st Century Marxism Research Institute is to gather high-quality expert resources through the Institute, play the guiding role of the Institute's platform guidance, form a leading cluster advantage in Shanghai's Marxist research, and strive to build the Institute into an important academic exchange platform rooted in Shanghai and connecting domestic and foreign Marxist researchers through innovation in scientific research mechanisms and systems.

At the meeting, Feng Ziyi, a Chair Professor at the Department of Philosophy at Peking University, Chen Xueming, a Double Appointment Distinguished Professor at the School of Philosophy at Fudan University, Xiao Guiqing, a Professor at the School of Marxism at Tsinghua University, Chen Xixi, a Chair Professor at the School of Marxism at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Hu Changshuan, Deputy Director of the Fourth Research Department of the Central Institute of Party History and Literature, Gu Hongliang, Vice President of East China Normal University, Wang Yonggui, a Professor at the School of Marxism at Nanjing Normal University, and Hou Yanshe, a Professor at the School of Marxism at Renmin University of China, delivered keynote speeches.

Han Qingxiang summarized that the proposition of Marxism in the 21st century contains multiple connotations, and it is necessary to continuously open up new directions for the sinicization and modernization of Marxism, innovate theories in the world dimension, and create Chinese theories that explain the world in the 21st century. The study of Marxism in the 21st century should be combined with the study of Marxism in contemporary China, through forward-looking thinking, rational interpretation, academic expression, systematic construction, and fundamental grasp, to study fundamental issues from a philosophical foundation. He hopes that the 21st Century Marxist Research Institute will seize the key points, condense its characteristics, highlight its highlights in its next work, prioritize achievements, gather expert resources from all aspects, and make new contributions to promoting the theoretical innovation of the Party.
