Zongzi is a traditional festival food in China. In recent years, more and more overseas consumers have fallen in love with this unique and soft taste. Both sweet Zongzi and salty Zongzi have attracted many fans. In some Zongzi export enterprises, overseas orders are growing.
Bacon dumplings are the most common and classic Zongzi in Guangdong. Wrap the marinated pork belly, peeled mung beans, and salted egg yolks with glutinous rice, creating a rich and flavorful taste. Such a Zongzi has been popular in Liu Guozhu's enterprises for more than 20 years. Since the beginning of this year, export orders have seen a new round of growth.
Liu Guozhu, General Manager of a food production enterprise in Shenzhen, Guangdong: There is approximately 40% growth. The customer is quite proactive and prepared early, and we also produce in advance. In previous years, it was not advanced so much. It started a month ago this year.
At present, more than ten tons of Zongzi are shipped overseas every four days in Liu Guozhu's enterprises. Compared to domestic orders, export orders are generally placed earlier and the duration of peak shipments is longer.
The reporter learned that since the middle of May, the normal temperature rice dumplings exported from Guangdong to Europe and the United States have started to be shipped. Recently, the Zongzi exported are mainly refrigerated rice dumplings with relatively short shelf life. Due to the long order cycle of overseas customers, the total export volume of Zongzi is expected to further increase.
Xie Mutao, Deputy Chief of Import and Export Food Safety Department of Shenzhen Customs: Since this year, the export of zongzi from Shenzhen Port has reached 280 tons. Some peripheral products of zongzi, including zongzi leaves and zongzi stuffing, have also been exported. Since May, the export volume of zongzi has shown a rapid upward trend.
