Zelensky's "former financier" is charged with guilt
According to the German news television channel website on September 2nd, a court in Kiev has ordered the arrest of Ukrainian oligarch Igor Kolomoisky on charges of fraud and other charges. According to the Ukrainian newspaper Pravda, the judge ordered the temporary detention of 60 year old Kolomoisky until October 31st and set a bail of 510 million hryvnas. As long as bail is paid, this billionaire and former supporter of Ukrainian President Zelensky will be released until the trial begins.
According to reports, the Ukrainian National Security Agency previously stated on the "Telegraph" social media platform that it had informed Kolomoisky of the investigation results. The owner of this financial and industrial enterprise group has been charged with crimes, including fraud and legalization of illegally acquired property. It is reported that this businessman transferred over 500 million hryvnas overseas between 2013 and 2020. The Ukrainian National Security Agency stated that the investigation is still ongoing under the supervision of the General Prosecutor's Office.
The report also stated that Kolomoiski has been under investigation since last year and his residence has been searched. Last November, Kolomoisky's shares in the semi state-owned Ukrainian oil and gas company were confiscated. Zelensky, who was elected president in 2019, has recently distanced himself from Kolomoisky and reportedly revoked his Ukrainian citizenship. Zelensky has announced that he will sanction the powerful Ukrainian oligarchs more resolutely.
