Zelensky dropped a harsh sentence, three drones attacked Moscow, Russia, Moscow, three drones
This is not the first time Moscow has been attacked. In fact, the Russia-Ukraine conflict has entered a new second stage.
In my personal opinion, in the first stage, the Russian military will be operating within Ukraine. Of course, in the early stages, there were more attacks, even reaching the outskirts of Kiev at one point; In the later stage, it was defense, and the Ukrainian army recaptured multiple lost territories such as Kherson.
In the second stage, the main battlefield is still within Ukraine, and the Russian military continues to launch frequent attacks; But the Ukrainian army is also launching a counterattack, even attacking the Russian rear. The Russian super project - the Crimean Bridge - has been bombed twice, and the Russian capital Moscow has also been repeatedly attacked by drones.
The latest one, just this past weekend, three drones launched a long-range attack on Moscow. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, one drone was destroyed by firepower, while the other two crashed due to electronic interference. The fifth and sixth floors of a 50 story building in Moscow were damaged.
Affected by this incident, Moscow Vnukovo Airport was temporarily closed.
Undoubtedly, the drones come from the Ukrainian military, and Moscow is about 500 kilometers away from the Ukrainian border, which also demonstrates the Ukrainian military's ability to launch long-range attacks.
Unlike previous shyness, after this attack, Ukrainian President Zelensky also left a harsh sentence: "The war is gradually returning to Russian territory - to its symbolic center and military base, which is an inevitable, natural, and absolutely fair process."
Before this sentence, he said, "Russia's aggression has gone bankrupt on the battlefield. Today is the 522nd day of the so-called 'special military operation', and Russian leaders expect this operation to last for one or two weeks. Ukraine is becoming increasingly powerful."
What does it mean?
The meaning is also very clear.
Previously, Russia was attacking and even intended to defeat Ukraine within a week or two, but Russia failed.
2. Ukraine is becoming increasingly powerful and capable of launching a counterattack against Russia.
3. The flames of war will enter Russian territory. If Russia can bomb Ukrainian targets, why can't Ukraine?
Of course, Zelensky has a very artistic saying, "The war is gradually returning to Russian territory - back to its symbolic center and military bases." We are not like the Russian army indiscriminately bombing civilian targets, we are targeting Moscow and Russian military targets.
But in fact, it's really eye-catching. What do you care about military and civilian use? The Russian army is like this, and the Ukrainian army is the same. A large number of buildings have fallen into ruins, and a large number of civilians have suffered casualties. This is also the most poignant aspect of war.
According to the spokesperson of the Ukrainian Air Force, launching an attack on Moscow is aimed at influencing the Russians and letting them know that war is not far away, and war is around.
Ukrainian Air Force spokesperson Ihnat said on Ukrainian television, "There is always something flying in Russia and Moscow. Now the war is affecting those who don't care."
What do Moscow think?
I feel two direct reactions.
The first reaction was to curse the Ukrainian army for being a terrorist act.
The second reaction was that the drones were ultimately shot down, and Moscow was very safe.
Indeed, the destructive power of Ukrainian drones, which typically destroy several windows of Moscow buildings, cannot be compared to missile attacks by the Russian military.
But we don't have to avoid it either. The increasing long-range attack capabilities of the Ukrainian army, and the impact on the Russian people, after all, this is not a frontline battlefield, this is the capital Moscow.
In fact, Russia is more eager to negotiate now than Ukraine.
On the day before Zelensky's harsh words, Putin made it clear at a press conference at the Russia Africa summit that Russia has never refused to engage in peace negotiations on the Ukraine issue.
At that time, a journalist asked Putin, "Will we implement the peace initiatives of African countries, or at least some individual provisions?"
Indeed, after the conflict between Russia-Ukraine conflict, African countries, like China, actively urged Russia and Ukraine to stop fighting and sit down to talk.
Putin's answer is that the peace initiative in Africa, like any peace initiative, is inherently good because it aims to find peaceful solutions to conflicts.
"But some things are difficult or unrealistic. For example, one of them is a 'ceasefire'. But the Ukrainian army is advancing, they are attacking, as they have said, implementing a large-scale strategic offensive. Why do we have to cease fire? When we are under attack, we cannot cease fire."
Putin continued, "Let's start peace negotiations. We didn't refuse. As you all know, I've always said we never refused peace talks. But if there's a law prohibiting negotiations there, I said, 'There's a law prohibiting negotiations, but we don't refuse.' The people at the table looked at each other yesterday, thinking to themselves. How can they persist?"
What does it mean?
Putin's meaning is roughly like this.
1. Basic attitude, we never refuse to negotiate.
2. But Ukraine is unwilling to cease fire, how can we cease fire?
3. Ukraine still has laws prohibiting peace talks with Russia. What do you want us to talk about?
You should know that in October last year, Zelensky signed a decree prohibiting Ukraine from negotiating with Putin. Ukraine's position may also be understandable. The enemy prohibited negotiations before leaving the country, but in fact, this also created obstacles for peace talks.
The war has entered the second stage, what will happen next?
I don't rule out all possibilities.
Firstly, Moscow will face more drone attacks, and the Crimean Bridge cannot be ruled out of being bombed for the third time until it is ultimately destroyed. Of course, the Russian military will launch even more intense retaliation.
Secondly, there is a precedent for more high-ranking Russian military officials to be assassinated, but this should only be the beginning.
Thirdly, Ukrainian military pilots are intensifying their training because by the end of the year, the Ukrainian military will receive Western F16 fighter jets, and it is not ruled out that these fighter jets will launch attacks within Russian territory.
Fourthly, the main battlefield is still in Ukraine, with some areas turning into meat grinding battles; But the war has also spread to Russia and even Moscow, and the Russian military is unable to intercept all drones.
Fifthly, this will indeed have an impact on the psychology of the Russian people, either grit their teeth and defeat Ukraine at all costs; Either actively negotiate and use various means to force Ukraine back to the negotiating table.
Both sides actually have chips.
The Ukrainian army maintains an offensive in some battlefields, with some weapons more advanced than the Russian army and overall high morale. Zelensky's ability to mobilize should not be underestimated.
The Russian military has four provinces in eastern Ukraine, Crimea, and the Zakharove nuclear power plant in their hands. Overall, the Russian military still has an advantage and may launch a fierce attack, but it is not ruled out that they will take a beheading action.
Not to mention, Russia is still a nuclear power.
Don't try to get what you can't get on the battlefield, even at the negotiation table. In the end, both sides were unable to fight and would definitely return to the negotiation table. However, during this process, it is unknown how many more men, women, and men will be killed and become bargaining chips for negotiations.
Will Ukraine be the Soviet Union's Afghanistan?
I don't know. But what I know is that the Afghanistan War of that year ultimately became a nightmare and quagmire for the Soviet Union; But don't forget, the war has completely destroyed the stability and balance of Afghanistan, and Afghan people are still struggling in the quagmire.
War is easy to start but difficult to end. But thinking about those poor people who have been ravaged by war, no matter how difficult it is to end it, it is best to end it as soon as possible.
