Zelensky "accepted reality"?, About "Joining the Treaty" Ukraine | Russia | Zelensky
According to Deutsche Presse-Agentur, Ukrainian President Zelensky seems to have accepted the reality that Ukraine will not be allowed to join NATO during the conflict with Russia. This Western military alliance is holding a two-day summit in Lithuania.
According to reports, NATO has made it clear that Ukraine cannot join the organization in the event of a conflict with Russia, as it would trigger a third world war. But once peace is achieved, Ukraine can quickly join.
Zelensky said in his nighttime video speech on the 9th, "It is clear that Ukraine should join NATO. Now is not the time, we are in a state of war, but we need a clear signal. Most members of the alliance are clearly on our side."
He added that the summit held in Vilnius on the 10th and 11th must confirm this.
He said, "We are still studying the wording, which is the specific wording to be confirmed, but we are aware of the fact that Ukraine will join NATO, and we are working to make the process of joining NATO as clear and prompt as possible."
He also emphasized that Ukraine's struggle is in line with the interests of the West. He said that the security of NATO's eastern wing depends on Ukraine's ability to repel the Russians.
According to a report on the website of German newspaper Le Monde on July 10th, NATO countries have reached an agreement on a new regional plan to resist Russia's "attack" on alliance territory. On July 10th, just one day before the opening of the NATO Vilnius Summit, these documents were approved through written procedures.
According to reports, the leaders of NATO member countries will confirm the resolution again on the 11th and then officially announce it.
The report points out that this defense plan, totaling over 4000 pages, provides a detailed description of how to protect key locations on alliance territory through deterrence and implement defense in emergency situations. The border areas between Norway, Finland, and Russia, the Baltic States, and the Black Sea coast of NATO member countries Romania and Bulgaria are all considered potential locations for attacks. The plan also defines the required military capabilities. In addition to the land, sea, and air forces, it also includes network and space capabilities.
At last year's NATO summit, NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg announced that 300000 soldiers will be in a highly operational state in the future to carry out potential NATO missions. So far, the NATO Rapid Response Force has been the main force in rapid crisis management operations. Each member country has currently provided approximately 40000 officers and soldiers to this force.
The report states that in addition to possible attacks by Russia, the threat posed by terrorist organizations is also the reason for the development of the plan.
