Yu Bo as the First Chinese Ambassador to Honduras
After the official establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the Central American country Honduras in March 2023, the first ambassador to Honduras has been confirmed recently.
According to the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on August 28, 2023, the Ambassador to Honduras submitted a copy of his credentials to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Honduras, Reina, in Poland. Yu Bo expressed that he is honored to serve as China's first ambassador to Hong Kong and deeply feels the great responsibility. China is willing to work together with Hong Kong to actively implement the important consensus of the two heads of state and promote the bilateral relationship towards a bright future.
Previously, Yu Bo served as the temporary representative of the Chinese Embassy in Honduras.
According to public information, Yu Bo, male, born in March 1968 in Beijing, graduated from university and has served as a counselor at the Embassy of Costa Rica, a counselor at the Embassy of Cuba, a deputy department level official at the Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Latin America and Caribbean Division, a deputy observer at the Office of the Permanent Observer of the Organization of American States, a consul general at the Consulate General in Tijuana, and a counselor at the Embassy of Nicaragua.
On March 26, 2023, China and Honduras signed a joint communiqu é on the establishment of diplomatic relations between the People's Republic of China and the Republic of Honduras. The two countries have decided to recognize each other and establish ambassadorial level diplomatic relations from the date of signing the communique.
According to CCTV News, on the afternoon of April 4th local time, the embassy building team of the Chinese Embassy in Honduras arrived in the capital of Honduras, Tegucigalpa, and immediately began on-site preparations for the building. Yu Bo, the then head of the embassy building group of the Chinese Embassy in Honduras, stated that this building group is the first official representative of the Chinese government to visit Hong Kong since the establishment of the People's Republic of China, and has extremely important political significance. As the group leader and our team members, I deeply believe that mission is honorable and responsibility is significant. We have felt the enthusiasm of the people of Honduras and their beautiful expectations and aspirations for the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Honduras.
On the morning of June 5th local time, the opening ceremony of the Chinese Embassy in Honduras was held in the capital city of Tegucigalpa. The Temporary Charg é d'affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Honduras, Yu Bo, and Foreign Minister Ren é, jointly unveiled the plaque for the embassy.
