Affected by Typhoon Du Suri, extreme rainfall has occurred in North China, Huanghuai, Northeast China and other regions since the end of July, resulting in severe geological disasters such as floods and waterlogging.
As of now, the entire Youth League has organized more than 19000 youth assault teams, mobilized 2.34 million young volunteers, and raised more than 160 million yuan in funds and materials, interpreting the mission and responsibility of youth in the new era through practical actions.
Actively mobilize young members of the Youth League to devote themselves to flood prevention and disaster relief
All levels of youth organizations quickly responded to the call and carried out extensive and in-depth mobilization.
Starting from July 29th, Fangshan District, Mentougou District, Changping District and other areas in Beijing have experienced multiple rounds of heavy rainfall, as well as secondary disasters such as floods and landslides. The red flood prevention warning has been quickly activated. Beijing Youth League members and young volunteers actively responded to the call and devoted themselves to flood prevention and disaster relief work.
The Beijing Volunteer Service Guidance Center organized youth assault teams and youth volunteer service teams to rush to the front line of flood prevention and rescue. Relying on the "Volunteer Beijing" platform, the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Youth League extensively mobilized volunteers to establish youth volunteer assault teams at the community level, and participated in flood prevention and disaster relief locally, with more than 5000 people participating in volunteer services.
51 enterprise youth assault teams in Beijing have made precise efforts in emergency rescue, hidden danger investigation, communication support, mass transfer, and river dredging, contributing to the front line of flood prevention and rescue.
The Tuanfang Mountain Area Committee mobilized 46 youth assault teams from 10 systems closely related to disaster relief work, including water and highways, with a total of 995 young people joining the front line of flood prevention and rescue; Organize and mobilize three professional rescue volunteer service organizations and 26 social organizations, totaling more than 300 volunteers to go to communities and villages to participate in emergency duty, cleaning up accumulated water, flood control inspections and other volunteer services.

Faced with extreme heavy rainfall in Beijing, Zhao Xiaojie, the secretary of the Youth League branch, is responsible for flood control inspections in Sijiazhuang Village, Yangfang Town, Changping District. Once, the "back river" behind the village broke its embankment, and he waded and ran along the way, with the water flowing over his shoe and reaching his calves. Seeing some villagers with their doors tightly closed, he stepped forward and tapped the door to call for someone. Seeing no one responding, he climbed up the wall and shouted loudly. At the most perilous moment, he worked with everyone to rescue a 90 year old man.
Faced with rare flood situations, more young people are joining the ranks.
Among the teams guarding the safety of Beijing's Thirteen Tombs Reservoir, the majority are born in the 1980s and 1990s. For Chen Lizhi, a member of the post-90s generation, one of his tasks in guarding the reservoir is to timely send back the latest water situation for colleagues to calculate the impact of incoming water on the reservoir. On rainy days, the road is slippery, and there is a possibility of encountering flash floods and mudslides when checking the water situation, but Chen Lizhi has no complaints.
In multiple communities and resettlement sites in Fangshan District, young cadres and social workers were moved by the flood. Gao Kai, a young volunteer of the "Two New" Youth League organization, received a call notice late at night and packed his equipment in less than half an hour before rushing to Liulihe Town in Fangshan District. On the same day, Fan Shengzhi, a social worker of the Colorful Space Community Youth Union in Liangxiang Township, received a volunteer recruitment notice and urgently gathered with 7 nearby social workers to go to the Doudian Cultural Palace resettlement site.
Fan Shengzhi said that the original 20 minute journey took nearly two hours to arrive due to constantly changing lanes and finding a way. Volunteers from the "Two New" Youth League organization are picking up trapped people at the entrance of the community, and volunteers stand guard every two to three meters to help.
"The water is too urgent, I need to participate in the rescue." On the morning of August 3rd, Li Rundong, a retired college student born in the 2000s from Harbin Huade University, walked into Yabuli Town in Shangzhi City, where he assembled lifeboats with local forest fire brigade officers to search for and evacuate the crowd. He traveled dozens of times and transferred hundreds of trapped residents.
In Mudanjiang City, the Youth Assault Team of Linkou Town has transferred a total of 54 households and 120 trapped people to a safe area; Young volunteers from Aimin District and Dong'an District went deep into the streets and communities to pack sandbags and build embankments for flood prevention; Various grassroots youth organizations in Suifenhe Town led youth members to participate in flood prevention, and transferred 63 people from 34 households.
Gathering the youthful forces to support the front line
The front line is racing against time, and the support of people, finances, and materials in the rear is equally indispensable.
On August 2nd, the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League allocated 300000 yuan in special flood prevention fees to the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Youth League. On this basis, the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Youth League allocated a total of 420000 yuan to 10 district committees, including Mentougou District and Fangshan District, to support grassroots youth organizations in carrying out flood prevention and disaster relief related work.
