She has participated in dozens of major tasks such as escorting the Gulf of Aden and joint exercises between China and foreign countries, and has been awarded second and third class honors once each.

In 2008, Zhang Meiyu, who graduated from a military academy, joined a destroyer detachment in the Navy and served as the deputy commander of the Xiangfan ship. For the first time boarding the ship, Zhang Meiyu was very excited and said, "The military dream of going to the navy, to combat ships, and to the front line of the South China Sea has finally come true!"

Zhang Meiyu was born in Shangcaiyuan Village, Liuchuan Town, Jianhe County, Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture, Guizhou Province. Through diligent study, he was admitted to Tsinghua University as a national defense student in 2001. After graduation, with excellent academic performance, he gave up the opportunity to pursue a postgraduate recommendation at his school and joined the military with his pen. He took the initiative to apply for further studies at the Dalian Naval Academy. Since then, Zhang Meiyu has integrated her personal ideals into the practice of building a strong military, and her belief in dedicating herself to the national defense industry has become increasingly firm. After graduating from graduate school, he once again volunteered to the front line of the South China Sea.

Zhang Meiyu, who had just joined the frontline army, was particularly clear headed: "I am a naval soldier. When I come to the frontline army, I should be down-to-earth and demand myself with higher standards."

Actions speak louder than words. Zhang Meiyu wakes up earlier and goes to bed later than others, and soon she has a clear understanding of communication equipment and duty duties; Work overtime to self-study military theory and memorize various performance parameters of ships; During work breaks, Zhang Meiyu became proficient in naval English... She was good at learning, thinking, and acting. With a spirit of not waiting for the moment, she mastered new equipment and improved her skills, gradually stepping into leadership positions in departments and ships, until she grew into a new type of main battle ship captain.

In the eyes of Wu Yuegang, the former commander of the Xiangfan Shipyard Observation, Zhang Meiyu was particularly fond of asking questions. "In less than three months, he went from asking questions to answering questions, from a student to a teacher."

As the captain of a new type of amphibious assault ship, Zhang Meiyu is determined to engage in strategic warfare.

The command center is Zhang Meiyu's battlefield, and every time she goes out to sea, it becomes the "strongest brain" for the high-speed operation of ships. Zhang Meiyu said, "As a captain, every parameter and coordinate must be clear to the mind, and every command and heading must be precise."

How strict is Zhang Meiyu in order to win? Deputy department head Yang Chao talked about a live fire shooting training at sea.

During that training, the airborne target exceeded expectations - the target aircraft approached the Hainan ship at high speed at twice the usual speed and swept past the secondary gun firing range. The auxiliary gun operator quickly adjusts the firing angle, captures, targets, and fires... The sound of artillery fire resounds through the sea and sky.

"Although the target was hit, the amount of ammunition loaded was insufficient to completely destroy it." Zhang Meiyu judged the air resistance training as "failed".

"On the way to charge towards war, there is no room for any luck!" Zhang Meiyu hit the nail on the head. In the past, live fire shooting was considered qualified as long as the "trauma" target was hit, and the shooting effect was rarely evaluated based on the degree of damage.

To ensure precise impact of each shell, Zhang Meiyu and the officers and soldiers discussed issues such as "how to maneuver and avoid" and "how to shorten reaction time". Collecting and organizing data on each live fire shooting, conducting in-depth research on the battlefield environment, refining the evaluation of shooting effectiveness, and conducting comprehensive evaluations from multiple dimensions have greatly improved the quality and efficiency of live fire training.

In recent years, Zhang Meiyu has led the entire fleet of officers and soldiers to closely monitor actual combat, adhere to "scientific training, bold training, and training based on unfavorable situations", optimize more than 10 processes in actual combat, and significantly improve combat capabilities.
