"The concealment incident of Daixian Jingcheng Mining has been ongoing for nearly 20 years, with serious nature, negative impact, and profound lessons, damaging the image of Shanxi. It also exposes the indifference of safety development concepts in relevant regions of our province, the suspension of safety supervision responsibilities, weak grassroots governance, and problems such as inaction and corruption by public officials."
According to the Shanxi Daily, on August 3rd, the Shanxi Provincial Party Committee held a meeting of the Standing Committee and a study meeting of the Theoretical Learning Center Group, during which they listened to the report on the safety production situation in the province in the first half of the year and the investigation and handling of the death concealment incident of miners in Daixian Jingcheng Mining. Earlier on July 30th, the Shanxi Provincial Joint Investigation Team issued a report on the investigation and handling of the death concealment incident of miners in Daixian Jingcheng Mining. The report states that the investigation team conducted a bottom-up investigation into the production safety accidents of Jingcheng Mining in the past 20 years since its establishment in August 2003. After investigation, it was found that before the September 1 landslide accident in 2022, Jingcheng Mining had concealed 40 production safety accidents and 43 miners had died. Among them, the list of 17 people and the one person mentioned in the report of China Newsweek have all been verified.
After investigation, it was found that Jingcheng Mining organized mining operations in different mines, with a total of 3 to 5 people in a single mine.
