Recently, the "Intangible Cultural Heritage Inheritance Practice Classroom" public welfare cooperation project jointly launched by SUMG · Xinhua Cultural and Creative, a platform under Shanghai Xinhua Publishing Group that integrates brands and industries, and the Chinese Excellent Traditional Culture Inheritance Base of the Ministry of Education of Shanghai Normal University, has been officially launched. Shanghai Normal University is a comprehensive university with distinctive characteristics in teacher education and coordinated development of arts, science, and technology. Gu Xiu is an outstanding representative of embroidery art in Jiangnan, originating from Songjiang Prefecture in the Ming Dynasty. It is named after Gu's famous family and is known for its exquisite techniques, elegant forms, and combination of painting and embroidery. It has extremely high artistic value and aesthetic significance, reflecting the essence of traditional Chinese culture, achieving the glory of embroidery art, and is also known as the "ancestor of embroidery art". In 2006, with the approval of the State Council, Gu embroidery was included in the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage list.
