The Yongding New River moisture-proof gate located at the mouth of the Yongding New River in Binhai New Area is an important channel for Tianjin to discharge the Yongding River water. Starting from July 20th, the Yongding Xinhe moisture-proof gate management station will enter a working state of full staff on duty and 24-hour duty. In recent days, except for the closure of the gate during high tide in seawater, all 20 holes of the moisture-proof gate have been opened for leakage.

"Since July 20th, the moisture-proof gate has discharged over 1 billion cubic meters of water, equivalent to the water volume of more than 70 West Lakes," said Dong Shaobo, director of the Yongding Xinhe moisture-proof gate management office.

Hao Zhimin, a 70 year old villager from Jianshe Village, was resettled here at Haifuxiang Elderly Care Home in Jinghai District. She said that in addition to having three meals a day, there is also a dedicated person to measure blood pressure and inquire about physical condition.

More than 30000 residents in the Dongdian flood storage and detention area of Tianjin have completed resettlement and relocation before the arrival of the flood.
