Ge Shu introduced that from 2016 to 2022, the cumulative number of green and low-carbon technology invention patents authorized worldwide reached 558000, of which Chinese patent holders were granted 178000, accounting for 31.9%, with an average annual growth rate of 12.5%, significantly higher than the overall global level of 2.5%.
From the perspective of innovation entities, a total of 13 enterprises or units in China have entered the top 50 global green and low-carbon technology invention patent authorizations, second only to Japan's 15. These 13 companies include 8 enterprises and 5 research institutes, including large central enterprises such as State Grid and Southern Power Grid, as well as private enterprises represented by CATL and BYD.
From the perspective of innovative and active energy storage technologies in recent years, the number of invention patents authorized in the field of electrochemical energy storage in China has increased from 4300 in 2016 to 13000 in 2022, accounting for 44.9% of the global total, up from 35.5%.
Ge Shu said that in the next step, the China National Intellectual Property Administration will continue to improve the classification system of green patents, continuously strengthen the statistical analysis of green patents, actively promote the transformation and application of green technology patents, and better serve green development.
