According to the official WeChat account of the Xi'an Education Bureau, on the 18th, the bureau released an explanation on the relevant situation of this year's high school entrance examination. The explanation mentioned that recently, some parents have raised concerns and doubts about the number of applicants and qualifications for this year's high school entrance examination in Xi'an. The Education Bureau of Xi'an attaches great importance to the situation and provides the following explanation:
In recent years, the enrollment of ordinary high schools in Xi'an has increased synchronously with the growth of urban population. This year, 103031 ninth grade students in the city participated in the middle school entrance examination. Regular high schools planned to enroll 68852 students, vocational high schools planned to enroll 26952 students, and 5749 new ordinary high school degrees were added. The admission rate of ordinary high schools reached 66.83%, which is higher than the admission level of previous years. With the addition of enrollment from vocational schools and technical schools, all ninth grade students in the city can enjoy high school education.
The ninth grade examinees taking the secondary school entrance examination in Xi'an this year are students with Xi'an school registration or registered residence, which conforms to the relevant regulations of the Ministry of Education and the provinces and cities on compulsory education. 103031 people passed the qualification examination for registration for the senior high school entrance examination in Xi'an. Among them, 3608 people with registered residence in Xi'an and no student registration in Xi'an, accounting for 3.5% of the total number of applicants in the city. The information of "40000 returned students" posted online is seriously untrue.
