According to the announcement, Yan, a 2020 full-time undergraduate student majoring in International Politics at the School of International Relations, Peking University, applied to transfer to the undergraduate program in Diplomacy at the School of Political and Public Administration, Wuhan University due to personal health reasons. After deliberation at the 6th President's Office Meeting of Wuhan University in 2023, his transfer application has been approved.
In addition, according to the official account of Yichang No. 1 Middle School, Yan was admitted to Peking University with 646 points in the college entrance examination in 2020, ranking 10th in Hubei Province in liberal arts.
