Wu can join the contract!, NATO officials: ceding territories to Russia | Ukraine | NATO
According to the Russian newspaper website on August 15, Stephen Jensen, Director of the Office of the Secretary General of NATO, proposed that Ukraine could join NATO if it ceded part of its territory to Russia. He also stated that Kiev should decide on its own when and under what conditions to negotiate with Moscow on resolving conflicts.
According to reports, Ukrainian President Zelensky earlier refused to exchange territory for NATO membership. Moscow previously stated that the threat of Ukraine joining NATO is also the reason for its special military operations.
According to the Norwegian newspaper "World Road", Jensen, the Director of the Office of the NATO Secretary General, stated in an open debate held in Arendal, Norway that if Ukraine abandons part of its territory and gives it up to Russia, thereby ending the military conflict, it can join NATO.
He said, "I think one solution could be for Ukraine to give up its territory and obtain NATO membership in return. What's important is that we must discuss how to get through this difficult time."
According to reports, Yansen did not specify which territories Ukraine should abandon its claims on. He pointed out that this is not an ideal solution to the situation, but there is such a way out. At the same time, Jensen reiterated NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg's position that the Ukrainian authorities should decide on their own time and conditions for ending the war negotiations with Moscow. As pointed out by World Road, Stoltenberg himself refused to discuss any solution to the conflict in Ukraine without Kiev's involvement.
The Vice Chairman of the Russian Federal Security Council, Medvedev, commented on Jensen's remarks on the "Telegraph" social media platform.
According to TASS on the 15th, Medvedev wrote, "What? This idea is interesting." He added, "The only problem is that all of their so-called territories are highly controversial. In order to join the group, the Kiev authorities must even abandon the ancient capital of Kiev."
Medvedev said, "In this way, they will have to move the capital to Lviv. Of course, if the Poles agree."
According to a report on today's Russian television website, Mikhail Podolyak, an advisor to the Ukrainian Presidential Office, has also rejected the idea of abandoning Ukraine's territorial claims in exchange for NATO membership. He claimed that the only solution was for the West to "accelerate weapons supply".
On social media platform X on the 15th, Podliac said, "Exchanging territory for NATO umbrellas? This is ridiculous."
