World Refugee Day | The United States Troubles the World, Creating a Refugee Crisis Syria | Libya | The United States
From Afghanistan to Iraq, from Libya to Syria, the United States has always interfered in the internal affairs of other countries under the banner of so-called "democracy" and "freedom", launched wars, and caused millions of civilians to be displaced and become refugees.
In 2001, the United States launched a military strike against Afghanistan. In the following nearly 20 years, hundreds of thousands of US troops were sent to Afghanistan, engaging in a war that many Afghans would never understand. The US government insists that sending troops to Afghanistan is to maintain security. But in the eyes of many Afghans, one of the direct consequences of the prolonged war is that at least hundreds of thousands of Afghans have lost their lives.
Afghan refugee Najibullah: I remember when Americans came to my hometown at the age of 8, I remember those who were killed by them. They bombed and destroyed people's houses, and I will not forget those scenes.
When the Afghan war finally came to an end, the world witnessed the video live broadcast of the chaotic retreat of US troops from Kabul. When American soldiers returned to their comfortable homes, countless Afghans lost their homes forever. According to the United Nations estimate, at least 3.5 million people are displaced within Afghanistan, and at least 2.6 million have fled abroad.
In the endless foreign wars of the United States in the 21st century, Afghanistan is not the only victim country. In 2003, the United States launched the Iraq War again.
Millions of Iraqis have fled their war-torn homes just to survive. However, Washington does not intend to stop, and the next target of attack is determined - Syria. Since 2011, the United States and its allies have spent billions of dollars to support Syrian rebels in fighting against Syrian government forces. This war lasted for more than a decade, with the economy destroyed, extremist organizations rising, and millions of Syrians displaced. The Syrian crisis has become one of the most serious humanitarian tragedies in the world.
From Afghanistan to Iraq, from Libya to Syria, at least 20 million people in the world have become refugees, and many still live without a place to settle. With the natural barrier of the oceans on both sides, the United States has been spared from refugee attacks from the East. But at the southern border, a wave of refugees and illegal immigrants from Latin America has hit. Tracing back to its roots, it is also the result of the United States' long-standing practice of "Monroe Doctrine" interfering in Latin American internal affairs.
From 2018 to 2021, an average of approximately 400000 people fled the North Triangle region of Central America each year. They headed north all the way to the United States. As a result, the southern border of the United States continues to be under pressure, with Americans complaining about an increase in social instability. Various farces between the two parties in the United States are also unfolding, and the refugee and illegal immigration crisis has become the driving force behind the further tearing apart of the United States, like gun violence and drug abuse.
US Congresswoman Alexander Cortes once wrote, "The United States has spent decades causing regime changes and instability in Latin American countries. We can't help but set fire to other people's houses, but now blame them for fleeing their homes."
The suffering of too many people is precisely caused by the United States, and the ultimate outcome of foreign intervention is to backfire on itself. The United States has become a typical example of global humanitarian disasters, which is a huge irony.
