Workers under high temperatures | Car inspectors under "high baking" ice cream | Frontline | Workers
Since the beginning of the summer, the continuous high temperature weather has brought enormous pressure to railway transportation. Railway workers have braved the scorching heat and stood firm on the front line, sweating profusely and facing the "grilling" test, always on the front line of their posts, safeguarding the safe operation of trains.
The "hot bath" in the "sweat steaming room"
On dog days, the temperature inside the carriage reaches as high as forty to fifty degrees, making the whole carriage feel like a "sweat steaming room".
"Recently, the temperature has been too high, and the quality of the on-board air conditioning electrical equipment directly affects the comfort of passengers' travel. No matter what, there should be no malfunction. It's okay for us to sweat a little, it's said to be beneficial for weight loss." In the "steamer" like carriage, Feng Bo, the leader of the first class of electricity in the Xuzhou workshop, is still very optimistic, joking with colleagues who are also working.
As he spoke, Feng Bo drank the mineral water from the bottle in one breath, wiped away the sweat that was almost flowing into his eyes, and plunged into the air conditioning control cabinet in the carriage, starting the maintenance work of the passenger car's air conditioning equipment. The main task of Feng Bo and his colleagues during the summer transportation period is to ensure the normal operation of the air conditioning and other electrical equipment in passenger cars, and to ensure a cool and comfortable riding environment for passengers.
Feng Bo entered the road and started working as a vehicle inspector in 2014. Through unremitting efforts, he was awarded the title of Technical Expert for the entire road in 2019. Others may think that he is thin and weak, but he has been working in this ordinary position for ten years. Whenever asked why he could persist, he always shyly said, "I am a party member, my position is the battlefield, and I want to be the vanguard." Under the leadership of Feng Bo, the team members were full of enthusiasm, braved the scorching sun and the scorching heat, and successfully completed various maintenance tasks.
Bending down to inspect the car hundreds of times and walking over 20000 steps
"We must check the condition of the vehicle carefully, especially the brake pipe system and the running parts, to ensure the safe operation of the vehicle." Qin Minyue, the party member and team leader of the first inspection team in the Xuzhou application workshop, explained the precautions for vehicle inspection to his colleagues.
At 14:00 on July 10th, the sun was scorching and the heat wave was rolling. The surface temperature reached over 40 ℃, and the passenger train was packed with people. From a distance, a group of people braved the scorching sun and began to carry out maintenance work on the newly stored train.
I saw them holding the inspection hammer in one hand and the inspection light in the other, with a focused expression, conducting a comprehensive medical examination of the vehicle. Following the bright light of the inspection car lights, the inspection hammer kept changing positions and tapping, with a pair of eyes scanning every position of the vehicle, sometimes tapping the wheelset, and sometimes using chalk to mark the fault. Every small malfunction on the vehicle cannot escape their attention.
After a shift, one needs to bend down to inspect the car hundreds of times, walk over 20000 steps, and wear work clothes that are dry and wet, wet and dry
Faced with high-temperature "baking" tests and simple and tedious repetitions, they said, "As long as we can ensure good quality of locomotives for online operation, this is not a big deal."
"Cool and refreshing, really refreshing!"
"Everyone, stop and have a piece of ice cream. It's cool and refreshing." On the afternoon of July 10th, the cooling team from the workshop in Xuzhou brought ice cream, mineral water, and other heatstroke prevention and cooling drinks to the frontline workers.
"Cool and refreshing, and full of energy after finishing." The young worker picked up an ice cream and took a big bite.
"Attention everyone, it's hot, don't forget to drink more water!" Yang Xuzhou, the workshop director who is inspecting on site, reminded. "The workshop has ice cream, mineral water, etc. every day. During high temperature periods, all workshop cadres go to the site to follow the work, control key safety links, and ensure that the workers are not heatstroke and there are no accidents during hot weather."
Hot weather and continuous high-intensity work can easily lead to dehydration and heatstroke among workers. To ensure the safety of on-site workers, the Xuzhou workshop heatstroke prevention and cooling working group has prepared heatstroke prevention and cooling supplies such as ice cream and mineral water, which are delivered to the front line by dedicated personnel once a day in the morning and afternoon.
The scorching sun shines and the heat waves are like a tide, "roasting" every railway worker. Sweat seeps through their thick work clothes, but it cannot shake their belief in ensuring safety and promoting smooth traffic. They shine brilliantly in their ordinary positions.
