Work 18 hours a day! Girlfriend and junior sister speak up, Dr. Zhang from the Chinese Academy of Sciences is scammed to Myanmar | Doctor | Girlfriend
Recently, a netizen posted that their doctoral friend was scammed to Myanmar on August 16, 2022 and has been forced to work 18 hours a day for a year now, while being closely monitored.
On August 17, the reporter contacted the doctor's girlfriend Ms. Yang, who said that her boyfriend graduated from the Institute of Earth Environment of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and later engaged in post doctoral research.
According to it, Mr. Zhang had a debt problem of tens of thousands of yuan a year ago. His family conditions are average, his mother is paralyzed, and his father is taking care of her. After being introduced, I thought I would go to Singapore to work as a translator, but in the end, I was deceived and sent to Myanmar.
Ms. Yang told reporters that when Mr. Zhang went there, he already knew it was a scam, but he couldn't come back because he couldn't come out once he entered. "He may have suffered some losses from his previous coin trading. I saw online that his salary was very high."

The last message Mr. Zhang sent when entering the park said, "The phones inside are no longer working." Later, he used another person's phone to contact Ms. Yang.
"His daily job is chatting with others, and he works for a long time," Ms. Yang said.
The Myanmar side initially stated that they could leave after completing one year of the contract. Currently, they are requesting a transfer of 120000 yuan before releasing the person. However, after transferring the money, they found that the account was frozen and unable to proceed with the transfer. She also learned that her boyfriend was beaten, detained, and imprisoned as a result.
According to Mr. Zhang's junior sister, he obtained his doctoral degree from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and graduated in December 2018. Later on, he went to the University of Science and Technology of China to work as a postdoctoral researcher. "He is very kind and intelligent, but he is not very talkative and has no defense against others.".

"I contacted him in July 2022, but have not received a reply. I only found out in June this year that he was scammed into going to Myanmar and I am very worried. I hope to be rescued as soon as possible."
On August 17th, Mr. Zhang's former staff member at the Lushan Botanical Garden of the Chinese Academy of Sciences stated that he is honest and his doctoral research focuses on ancient plants.
After knowing this, Mr. Zhang's brother chose to call the police, and the staff of the police station where the registered residence is located said that they had reported this matter to the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar.
It is reported that on March 23 this year, the Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar pointed out during a meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister of Myanmar that multiple recent incidents of Chinese personnel crossing the border to Myanmar have a background in illegal activities such as online fraud within Myanmar.
