Will Western submarine cables become targets for Russia's attack? Medvedev's harsh comments | Medvedev | Underwater
According to Reuters, former Russian President Medvedev stated on June 14th that there are no longer any "moral restrictions" to prevent Moscow from destroying enemy submarine communication cables due to Western collusion in the North Stream natural gas pipeline explosion.
The report states that Medvedev made this comment on social media.
Last September, the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 series pipelines, which Russia exported natural gas to Europe, exploded and leaked, rendering them unusable. It is widely believed that this incident was a deliberate act of sabotage.
On February 8th this year, renowned American investigative journalist Seymour Hersh published an article citing sources who accused the US government of planning to destroy the North Stream pipeline by sending US Navy divers to place explosives on the pipeline, which was remotely detonated by the Norwegian Navy. The United States and Norway deny this claim.
US media recently reported that Washington knew before the incident that Ukraine planned to blow up the Nord Stream natural gas pipeline. Kiev denies that it has damaged these pipelines.
