Will Lai Qingde "transit" to the United States?
On July 17th, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning presided over a regular press conference.
What is the comment of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on this?
Mao Ning said that China firmly opposes any form of official exchanges between the United States and Taiwan, resolutely opposes "Taiwan independence" separatists in any name and for any reason, and resolutely opposes the US side's connivance and support for "Taiwan independence" separatists and their separatist acts in any form, and has made solemn representations to the US side.
Mao Ning emphasized that the Taiwan issue is the core of China's core interests and the first insurmountable red line in Sino-US relations. We urge the US side to abide by the one-China principle and the provisions of the three Sino-US joint communiques, earnestly fulfill the commitments made by US leaders not to support "Taiwan independence," stop official exchanges between the United States and Taiwan, stop upgrading substantive relations between the United States and Taiwan, and stop sending wrong signals to the separatist forces of "Taiwan independence.
Mao Ning said that China will closely monitor the development of the situation and take resolute and effective measures to defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
