CCTV News: Recently, staff found clear images of the wild Northeast tiger "Wanda Mountain No.1" active in the core area of the Northeast Taxus National Nature Reserve and the Muling Park of the Northeast Tiger and Leopard National Park in April of this year in a field infrared camera.
In the video, a robust Northeast tiger walked leisurely past the camera with agile steps. After comparison, this Northeast tiger is the "Wanda Mountain No.1" that was previously released in Muling Forest District.
On April 23, 2021, a 3-year-old male Northeast tiger named "Wanda Mountain No.1" accidentally entered a village in Mishan City, Heilongjiang Province. Zhao Yue, research assistant at the Cat Research Center of the State Forestry and Grassland Administration: When we released it, it was a subadult Northeast tiger. Now, its size has become larger and it has become much stronger. In addition to the Northeast tiger, there are also activities related to the Northeast leopard. We determine that more than one Northeast leopard is active in this area based on pattern comparison and information presented.
It is understood that the staff also discovered through infrared cameras that wild animals such as roe deer, sika deer, and red deer are inhabiting and reproducing in the Muling Forest area, and the population is constantly increasing.
