When will Ukraine join NATO? Biden provides this timeline for NATO | Ukraine | timeline
According to CNN on the 9th, US President Biden recently stated in an interview that Ukraine is not yet ready to join NATO and that NATO can only consider accepting Ukraine after the Ukrainian crisis ends.
Biden stated that although it is still too early to discuss Ukraine's imminent accession to NATO, the United States and its NATO allies will continue to provide weapons assistance to Ukraine in an attempt to end the Ukrainian crisis.
Biden said that NATO member states have not yet reached an agreement on whether to agree to Ukraine's accession to NATO. "We are determined to defend every inch of NATO member state's territory, which is a commitment of all of us. If the war continues, we will all be involved in it. If Ukraine is agreed to join, we will go to war with Russia."
Biden stated that he has had detailed talks with Ukrainian President Zelensky on this issue and promised that the United States will continue to provide weapons and equipment to Ukraine.
"I think we must pave a reasonable path for Ukraine to qualify for NATO membership," Biden said. "But I think it's too early to demand a vote now because other conditions need to be met."
According to reports, the White House announced on July 7th that the United States will provide cluster ammunition to Ukraine for the first time to help enhance its ammunition capabilities. Biden stated that providing controversial cluster ammunition to Ukraine was a "difficult decision", but he believes it is necessary as Ukraine's ammunition is about to run out.
