The Xiongfeng-2E cruise missile has always been regarded by the Taiwanese military as a "trump card" weapon, and has been in high confidentiality for over a decade of service. Recently, the mysterious veil of this type of missile has been consecutively unveiled. What is the mystery behind it? Mainland military expert Yang Shengyun said that perhaps this "unexpected" exposure is not surprising, and the "highly confidential" "Xiongfeng-2E" is not worth keeping confidential.
Accidental exposure or intentional feeding?
So it has been kept confidential for over a decade, but now it has been exposed one after another, so it is not ruled out that there is a possibility of intentionally feeding the media.
In fact, in order to let the outside world know that this missile has the ability of "source strike" and "effective counterattack", the DPP authorities and the Taiwan military have repeatedly released materials.In January 2021, local media reported that the extended range "Xiongfeng-2E" cruise missile had been delivered in small quantities to the Taiwanese military, with a range of up to 1200 kilometers and a "source strike capability".
Behind this initiative, first and foremost, is the courageous mentality of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities to whistle on the night road. The time period during which "Xiongfeng-2E" was repeatedly exposed almost coincides with the time period when Lai Ching te "crossed the border" to the United States and the People's Liberation Army launched military countermeasures. It is highly likely that the Democratic Progressive Party authorities are deliberately showing a tough stance, saying "I am not cowardly" to the people on the island. This is exactly the same as when the People's Liberation Army dispatched the flagship "Jiyang class" frigate to present a "confrontation" during previous military exercises.
Secondly, it is also in line with the Democratic Progressive Party's election strategy of "preparing for war to avoid it". It was revealed through the media and the internet that the "Xiongfeng-2E" cruise missile test was successful and deployed into the military, with the aim of continuing to mislead and deceive the people on the island.
Is it really worth "high confidentiality"?
Yang Shengyun: The "Xiongfeng-2E" cruise missile is considered one of the biggest trump cards of the Democratic Progressive Party's "rejection of reunification with military force", and some green camp politicians on the island often use it as a "mental fraud", occasionally blowing it out.
However, in reality, the Xiongfeng-2E cruise missile, which is seen by the Democratic Progressive Party authorities as a "trump card" weapon, has limited effectiveness during wartime. Whether the "Xiongfeng-2E" can survive, be intercepted during flight, and accurately strike targets is a big question mark under the PLA's far leading anti missile capabilities and wartime saturation attacks.
