What does "Sula" typhoon eye look like? They got close and captured the footage
On the morning of September 1st, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government Flight Service dispatched a Challenger 605 fixed wing aircraft to collect meteorological data near Typhoon Sura.
After the fixed wing aircraft arrived, the downward sounding instrument was deployed at the designated coordinate position and altitude provided by the Hong Kong Observatory to collect first-hand meteorological data at different altitudes in the atmosphere. The photos taken show that the eye wall of Typhoon Sura is intact and the circulation is tight, indicating that it has developed and matured.
The government flight service team stated that the collected meteorological data is of great significance for the observatory to analyze the strength and three-dimensional structure of tropical cyclones, and to determine storm strength and future paths, which will be integrated into the subsequent windbreak work.
