The Asia Pacific version of NATO harbors hidden dangers

32 years have passed since the Cold War, and the United States has not only failed to eliminate the remnants of the Cold War, but has instead intensified its efforts to build an "Asia Pacific version of NATO", using ideology to provoke confrontation between factions, triggering widespread criticism and high vigilance worldwide.

In recent years, the United States has actively attracted Japan, India, and Australia to promote the construction of a so-called "Indo Pacific strategy" system led by it, and promoted the dialogue of the so-called "quadrilateral mechanism".

During the presidency of former US President Trump, the "quadrilateral mechanism" mainly emerged in the form of ministerial level dialogue. Since Biden took office, the format of the "quadrilateral mechanism" dialogue has risen from ministerial level to summit level.

The fourth summit of the Quadrilateral Mechanism, originally scheduled to be held in Sydney, Australia on May 24th, has been cancelled due to the early return of US President Biden to handle the debt crisis. As an alternative, the leaders of the four countries met on May 20th during the G7 summit in Hiroshima, Japan.

This apparent geopolitical containment plot by the United States immediately caused concern and criticism from knowledgeable individuals.

Kumashi Inoue, a renowned Japanese scholar who has long been engaged in modern and contemporary history research and an honorary professor at Suruga University, pointed out that the United States forms cliques and organizes various small circles to create confrontations, highlighting the essence of the so-called "Indo Pacific strategy" of the United States.

The United States' insistence on Cold War thinking, creating opposition and division is undoubtedly harmful and beneficial to the world and all humanity.

Moreover, the United States is actively promoting the establishment of a so-called "trilateral security partnership" in the Asia Pacific region.

Under the leadership of the United States, the governments of the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia reached a so-called "trilateral security partnership agreement" in September 2021. As the core content of the agreement, the United States and the United Kingdom will assist Australia in building a nuclear submarine force.

The authoritative publication of the Atomic Scientists Bulletin in the nuclear field pointed out that the Tripartite Security Partnership Agreement will make Australia the first non nuclear weapon country in the world to possess a nuclear submarine.

"It can be foreseen that highly sensitive military nuclear technology will spread in the coming years under loose or no international safeguards."

The National Interest magazine in the United States commented that the push for this agreement by the United States fully demonstrates that Washington "can easily change the international nuclear non-proliferation mechanism to meet its own preferences.".

In the view of Pakistani international political expert Sultan Harley, the United States suppresses countries such as Iran and North Korea while arming countries like Australia with nuclear submarines that do not face any threats, which is the most obvious double standard.

According to recent reports from American media, NATO is planning to establish a liaison office in Tokyo in 2024, with the aim of providing convenience for so-called "Asia Pacific partners" such as Japan, South Korea, Australia, and New Zealand to strengthen their defense.

Prior to the upcoming NATO summit scheduled for July in Lithuania, NATO will also upgrade its partnership with Japan and deepen cooperation in areas such as space, cybersecurity, and sensitive technology.
