We discussed these issues for three hours! Russia Turkey Presidential Meeting
On the 4th local time, Türkiye's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrived in Sochi, Russia, and held a three hour meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The two sides discussed hot topics such as bilateral relations and agreements on the export of agricultural products from Black Sea ports. After the meeting, Putin and Erdogan held a press conference.
Putin: If the Russian part is fulfilled, consider restarting the agreement
Putin positively evaluated the current status of Russia Turkey relations and stated that the cooperation between the two countries in various fields such as economy and trade, finance, energy, agriculture, and earthquake relief has developed smoothly.
Regarding Russia's withdrawal from the Black Sea port agricultural export agreement, Putin stated that the Russian side was forced to make the above decision because the parts of the agreement involving Russia were not implemented, and Russian grain and fertilizer exports were hindered. Russia has been blocked in payment, insurance, logistics, and overseas assets. Putin stated that once and only the Russian part of the agreement is fulfilled, Russia is willing to consider "restarting" the agreement at any time.
Putin reiterated that Russia is willing to continue exporting grain and fertilizers to stabilize the international market. Russia will supply 1 million tons of Russian grain at preferential prices for Türkiye's enterprises to process and transport to the countries most in need. It will also start to supply free grain to six African countries in two to three weeks.
