On July 14, 2023 local time, Wang Yi, Director of the Central Foreign Affairs Office, met with South Korean Foreign Minister Park Jin at the invitation in Jakarta.
Wang Yi said that China and South Korea face each other across the sea and are inseparable neighbors; Economic complementarity is an inseparable partnership; People's millennia of communication are constantly connected. China maintains continuity and stability in its policy of good neighborly friendship with South Korea, and should not target or be influenced by third parties. China South Korea relations can and should go well, steadily, and further. In recent times, the difficulties and challenges faced by China South Korea relations have increased, which is not in line with the fundamental and long-term interests of the two peoples. We are willing to work with the South Korean side in the spirit of mutual respect, pursue the path of "harmony but difference" as a gentleman, strengthen communication, rebuild mutual trust, and promote the strategic partnership between China and South Korea to return to the track of healthy and stable development, so as not to let the achievements made in the 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations be covered in dust.
Wang Yi emphasized that both sides should leverage their geographical proximity, economic integration, and cultural exchange advantages, eliminate interference, live in harmony, restart exchanges at all levels, firmly promote mutually beneficial cooperation, inject more positive expectations into bilateral relations, bring more benefits to the two peoples, and make greater contributions to regional peace and stable development.I hope that the South Korean side will abide by the One China principle and handle it prudently and properly.

The smooth development of South Korea China relations is in line with the common interests of both sides and will also contribute to regional peace and stability. The South Korean side has always respected the One China principle, and this position has not changed in any way. We are willing to deepen exchanges and cooperation between the two countries in various fields based on the principles of mutual respect and reciprocity, and open a new 30 years of bilateral relations with the Chinese side. Looking forward to maintaining high-level exchanges and communication between both sides, strengthening cooperation in the production and supply chain, and promoting cultural exchanges.
