On August 10, 2023 local time, Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with the new Foreign Minister Vivian in Singapore.
The two sides spoke positively of the current sound development momentum of China New Zealand relations, and said that they would continue to promote high-quality joint construction of the "the Belt and Road" in accordance with the strategic guidance of the leaders of the two countries, and take the opportunity of upgrading China New Zealand relations to a comprehensive and high-quality forward-looking partnership, so as to promote connectivity and mutually beneficial cooperation to achieve new results and better benefit the people of the two countries and regions. Both sides will prepare for the China Singapore Vice Premier level bilateral cooperation mechanism meeting to be held within the year, coordinate and plan the next stage of cooperation, and expand new areas of cooperation. The new side highly praised China's recent measures to facilitate personnel exchanges, and both sides will accelerate the comprehensive resumption of direct flights between the two countries, and closely cooperate in economic, trade, cultural and tourism exchanges.
Both sides also extensively exchanged views on regional and international issues, and will strengthen communication and coordination to jointly promote positive results in the series of East Asian Cooperation Leaders' Meetings, and jointly maintain regional peace, stability, development, and prosperity.
