Wang Yi Meets with Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations, Amina, China | United Nations | Secretary General
On June 29, 2023, Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Director of the Central Foreign Affairs Office, met with United Nations Deputy Secretary General Amina in Beijing.
Wang Yi said that as a founding member state, China has always firmly supported the cause of the United Nations. Regardless of its historical position and stage of development, China has always been a builder of world peace, a contributor to global development, and a maintainer of the international order. We firmly support the core role of the United Nations in international affairs, advocate and practice true multilateralism, and uphold the basic principles of international relations based on the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter.
Development is our common cause, and China is willing to strengthen coordination with various United Nations agencies, form a joint force, and promote the timely implementation of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Amina expressed gratitude to China for its unwavering support for the cause of the United Nations, and for the in-depth cooperation between the two sides in maintaining peace and promoting development. The United Nations appreciates and supports China's important initiatives such as the "the Belt and Road" initiative and the global development initiative. Faced with numerous global challenges, we must adhere to multilateral partnerships and look forward to China's leadership to jointly find solutions. We hope to strengthen cooperation with China in various fields such as sustainable development, addressing climate change, desertification prevention and control, and innovating digital technology.
