The 54th World Athletics Federation Congress was held in Budapest, Hungary on the 17th. The conference elected a new World Athletics Federation Council through voting, and Wang Nan, Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the China Athletics Association, was successfully re elected as a member of the World Athletics Federation Council, with a term of office until 2027.
The World Athletics Federation Congress was attended by nearly 500 representatives from over 190 member associations. The new board of directors of the World Athletics Federation consists of 26 members, including 1 chairman, 1 first vice chairman, 3 vice chairmen, 6 chairmen of regional athletics federations from 6 continents including the Asian Athletics Federation, 13 individual directors, and 2 representatives of the Athletics Committee. Sebastian Ko, the current President of the World Athletics Federation and a British, has successfully been re elected as the new President of the World Athletics Federation.

Wang Nan stated that in the next four years, the China Athletics Association will continue to actively participate in world athletics affairs, vigorously promote and implement the relevant development plans of the World Athletics Federation, integrate the development of children's athletics, competition reform, coach training certification and other cooperative projects. Next, multiple international athletics events, including the 2025 Nanjing IAAF Indoor Championships, the 2025 Guangzhou IAAF Relay Tournament, and the 2027 Yangzhou IAAF Road Running Championships, will be held in China. The China Athletics Association will also fulfill its responsibilities and commitments, further strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the IAAF, and work with the organizing committee to prepare and organize these events. Through the hosting of these events, the influence of athletics will be further promoted and expanded, making more contributions to the development of world athletics.
