At the beginning of boarding the ship, the team members formulated a daily cooking schedule, consisting of three people in a group, and all team members had a share.

Although three team members come to help with the kitchen every day, the team leader Wang Jinhui always appears in the kitchen without hesitation.

Coriander, it's been over ten days and it's still quite good. Vegetables are still quite precious and not easy to store, and they become more precious as they progress. We also have a cabinet, which is like an oxygen deficient environment. After a month, the box will only be opened, which is better than conventional storage methods.

For the scientific expedition team members, helping the kitchen is also a part of the life on the ship, and even a bit challenging.

"Xuelong 2" is a cold storage facility with rich classification and storage of ingredients

This scientific expedition to the Arctic Ocean will take about 80 days, and there will be no supplies along the way. This means that you must bring enough food reserves when setting off. How will the ingredients on the "Snow Dragon 2" be stored?

Chef Qin Donglei of "Xuelong 2": This is our egg storage. We have a crew of 100 on this voyage, and I bought a little over 10000 yuan. On an individual basis, an average person can have one boiled egg every day. We have a voyage of 70-80 days, which is 7000 to 8000 eggs, and some are made into vegetables, cakes, and so on. We have already eaten more than ten boxes. Eggs can actually be stored for two to three months without any problem.

In the vegetable storage, the variety of vegetables inside can be said to be quite abundant.

Chef Qin Donglei of "Xuelong 2": From leafy vegetables to potatoes, onions, carrots, winter melon, and so on, there are all kinds here. There are at least twenty or thirty types of vegetables. In the later stage, it will be slightly less. This is the Sichuan pepper, which has been around for about ten days and has been well preserved. You can see that none of it is bad, it's very fresh.

In order to ensure three meals a day for around 100 people for 80 days, the amount of food purchased is quite considerable.

Chef Qin Donglei of "Xuelong 2": Tomatoes, we usually bring about 150 to 200 kilograms when we go out, because the storage time is not long, we can only eat a few meals. We have about 100 kilograms of pumpkin. The entire food is estimated to have 3 tons of vegetables available.

Not only vegetables, there are also many fruits on board, such as apples, pears, and oranges that are resistant to storage, while those that are difficult to store, such as watermelon and dragon fruit, are provided to the team members in the early stages.

One sixth of the voyage has just passed. If we eat all the fresh ones, what will happen to the subsequent recipes?

Chef Qin Donglei of "Xuelong 2": At the beginning, the pressure of eating is not high, but later on, when there are no fresh vegetables, there will be some pressure. In the later stage, except for vegetables like cabbage, potatoes, and onions, there was nothing else left. Yam is available.
