"Waiguoren" Guests Enter Xunhua, Qinghai to Experience Salar's Chord Iran | Blogger | Qinghai
On August 5th, guests from the second season of "Waiguoren takes you on a tour of Qinghai" walked into Xunhua Salar Autonomous County, Haidong City, Qinghai Province. Foreign bloggers and international students, under the guidance of local intangible cultural heritage inheritors, learn about the production techniques of Salar ethnic strings and their playing skills.
The Salar ethnic string is a folk musical instrument that has been passed down among the Salar people in Xunhua Salar Autonomous County, Qinghai Province. The mouth string is less than one inch long and weighs less than 5 grams. It is made of red copper or aluminum to form a narrow horseshoe shape, with a brass wire placed in the middle. The tip is curved and small, making it one of the smallest ethnic ancient musical instruments in China. When playing, it is necessary to hold it in the mouth and use the tip of the tongue to play the reed or fingers to play. The reed vibrates in the mouth to produce a clear and pleasant sound.

In 2013, the production technique of Salar ethnic strings was included in the fourth batch of provincial-level intangible cultural heritage list in Qinghai Province.
