Violent law enforcement, arbitrary shootings, erasing history... African Americans are plagued by countless atrocities. American media says, "racism is one of the deadliest forms of terrorism in America."
On August 29th, China Daily reported that on August 26th local time, a "racist" shooting occurred in a predominantly African American community in Jacksonville, northern Florida, USA, resulting in the death of three African Americans. The gunman subsequently committed suicide. It is reported that before the incident, the gunman had written a suicide note and an article on "white supremacism". The report states that this is the latest case of gun violence in the United States triggered by racist ideology.
The police said, "This shooting incident was motivated by racism and he hates black people."
Federal officials point out that racism is a national scourge and one of the deadliest forms of domestic terrorism in modern America. The local mayor stated that there are countless tragedies caused by racial hatred. Before that, hate triggered shootings occurred in public meeting places such as the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting in 2018, the Wal Mart shooting in El Paso, Texas in 2019, and the Buffalo supermarket shooting in New York in 2022.
Jacksonville City Councilor Zhu Corby Pitman said solemnly, "The people in the community where the incident occurred have been harmed - they have every right to think so. This reckless disaster makes me extremely angry... we can't even walk on the sidewalk, we can't go to the supermarket because it's not safe anywhere. It's really unfair."
A comprehensive review conducted by the US government two years ago found that violent extremists motivated by race or ethnicity, especially those who promote white racial superiority, are one of the most persistent and deadly threats facing the United States.
According to a report released by the American Anti Defamation Alliance in March this year, the organization recorded over 6700 propaganda and on-site activities by white supremacists last year, setting a new historical record. And, except for Hawaii, every state in the United States is filled with propaganda such as anti Semitism and racism.
Some officials believe that it was policies aimed at teaching African American history in Florida that instigated the tragedy of the 26th racist attack.
City Congressman Angie Nixon said, "We must be clear that this is not just motivated by race, it is racist violence that has been perpetuated by statements and policies aimed at attacking African Americans, and that's all... we cannot sit idly by and see our history erased, our lives devalued, and our awakening attacked."

African Americans in the United States not only suffer from bullets flying from white people, but also from unfounded anger from the police.
According to a recent report by The Guardian, on August 14th local time, six white former police officers in Mississippi, USA finally admitted to their crimes of abusing African Americans and obstructing justice.
It is reported that on January 24th this year, six white police officers in Mississippi raided a house in Rankine County, a suburb of Jackson, and subjected two African American men, Jenkins and Parker, to a one and a half hour torture. During the raid, the police abused these two African American men with electric guns without a search warrant. Police officer Elward stuffed the gun into Jenkins's mouth and pulled the trigger to conduct a simulated execution. Jenkins later tore his tongue and fractured his chin, making it impossible to speak. The court documents also show that the police subjected Jenkins and Parker to racist insults, forcing them to "roll back" to Jackson City, which is predominantly African American, and away from Rankine County, which is predominantly white.
What's even more outrageous is that the police attempted to cover up the scandal by framing and placing firearms and drugs at the scene during the investigation, falsely accusing the victim Jenkins of possessing firearms.
However, this violent law enforcement is not an exception. In the same month, police in Memphis, Tennessee beat and killed African American Tyr Nichols, once again exposing the disproportionate harm caused by police violence to African Americans in the United States.
On August 28, 1963, exactly 60 years ago, Martin Luther King, the leader of the American civil rights movement, delivered his famous speech "I Have a Dream" in front of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, facing a parade of about 250000 people. This speech became a classic cry for the United States to oppose racial discrimination and fight for equal rights. On the 26th local time, thousands of people gathered again near the Lincoln Memorial to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the "I Have a Dream" speech, reminding Americans that the "dream" of 60 years ago is far from being realized.
