Venezuela responds to US criticism of its 2024 election: strongly opposes US interference in domestic affairs | Venezuela | United States
In response to criticism from the US State Department regarding Venezuela's 2024 elections, the Venezuelan Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a statement on July 1 local time that the US actions are interfering in Venezuela's internal affairs, and the Venezuelan government strongly opposes the US actions. Venezuela is a sovereign and independent country, and the United States has no right to make any comments on the political process of Venezuela.
The statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Venezuela stated that democratic elections in Venezuela do not require any other country to criticize Venezuela, especially for a country like the United States that lacks direct democracy, imposes strict restrictions on public participation, is deeply influenced by money, and has serious institutional racial discrimination. Before making a value judgment on the legitimate actions of other electoral institutions, it is best for the United States to promptly correct the shortcomings of its own electoral system.
The statement also stated that the United States' use of "Monroe Doctrine" to interfere in the affairs of other countries and the use of illegal unilateral sanctions to threaten and extort other countries cannot intimidate the Venezuelan people.
