Recently, a thunderstorm ended days of high temperatures. In Xiajin County, Dezhou City, Shandong Province, agricultural machinery workers Sun Shengwang and Yang Shouhai from Ertun Village in Dukouyi Township began to compete for soil moisture for summer planting.
After supporting Henan to harvest wheat this year, Sun Shengwang and Yang Shouhai returned to Xiajin County around June 10th to continue their busy work. "From 7 to 8 o'clock in the morning, we need to grab the wheat and take advantage of the sunny weather to collect it home," said Sun Shengwang.
According to data from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, as of June 20th, 9 provinces including Sichuan, Hubei, Henan, Anhui, Jiangsu, Hebei, Shandong, Shaanxi, and Shanxi have harvested 301 million mu of winter wheat, with a harvest progress of 99%. The large-scale machine harvesting in the Yellow, Huai, and Hai regions has basically ended.
The reporter learned from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs that during this year's "Three Summers" period, more than 600000 combine harvesters, more than 800000 agricultural machinery operators, and more than 6100 emergency operation service teams of agricultural machinery fought tirelessly on the front line of wheat harvesting, with mechanized harvesting accounting for over 99%.
"This year, the overall foundation of summer grain harvest in Shanxi is good, thanks to the high enthusiasm of farmers for planting, a stable increase in sowing area, a high proportion of suitable time and moisture sowing, strong and healthy wheat seedlings, basic suitable rainfall, and effective monitoring and control of major diseases, pests, and weeds. The overall harm is relatively mild," said Wang Yuanrong, Director of the Planting Management Office of the Shanxi Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.
Consolidate responsibility and stabilize area. This year, the central government will continue to raise the minimum purchase price for wheat, implement full coverage of "one spraying and three prevention" for wheat, and provide a one-time subsidy of 10 billion yuan to actual grain farmers during the critical period of spring field management. Strict implementation of the requirement of party and government responsibility for food security in various regions has led to a steady increase in the area of winter wheat. At the same time, the southern region is making every effort to tap into the potential of winter fallow fields, and drought stricken areas are making every effort to resist drought and ensure the implementation of the task of expanding rapeseed planting.
Accurate guidance to improve yield per unit area. This year, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs has implemented the large-scale increase in yield of major crops such as grain and oil for the first time. Comprehensive plans for increasing yield have been formulated by region, and technical guidance opinions have been issued for each crop. Carry out green, high-yield, and efficient actions for wheat, and promote the implementation of key measures such as precision sowing and topdressing of withered, yellowed, and weak seedlings.
Take multiple measures and make concerted efforts to compete for "insect bites for food" and "dragon bites for food". This year, the central government and various levels of finance have allocated a total of 5.2 billion yuan to support disease and pest prevention and control, as well as the "one spray and three prevention" of wheat. The agricultural and rural system has sent a total of 770000 agricultural technicians to provide guidance in villages and households, vigorously promoting unified prevention and control. The areas affected by wheat stripe rust and scab have decreased by 25.3% and 15.6% respectively compared to the previous year. At the same time, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, in conjunction with departments such as water conservancy, emergency response, and meteorology, has jointly formulated disaster prevention and harvest protection plans, and established a coordination mechanism for the "Three Summers" production work in conjunction with departments such as transportation, petroleum, and petrochemicals.
It is understood that in response to the emergency situation of local "rotten rain", various main production areas have established emergency operation service teams for agricultural machinery to help small scattered and difficult farmers carry out harvesting and planting operations. Henan, Shaanxi, Hebei and other provinces have allocated 3.879 billion yuan in finance to support wheat harvesting and drying. Henan Province has invested more than 216000 combine harvesters to rush to harvest wheat, with a daily harvest of 15.43 million mu during the peak period, which is 2 million mu more than usual.
The machine shuttles through the fields, planting seedlings one by one. On the afternoon of June 19th, as soon as the heavy rain stopped, Ping Donglin, the chairman of the He He Ecological Agriculture Professional Cooperative in Tianchang City, Chuzhou City, Anhui Province, and the agricultural service team were busy in the fields. This year, they managed about 9200 acres of rice, but due to the influence of rainy weather during summer harvest, the progress of summer planting and stubble pressing has been delayed. "During the 'Three Summers' season, it's a' rush '. We must work overtime to rush for planting," said Ping Donglin.
According to the agricultural dispatch on June 20th, 72.3% of the country's summer crops have been sown. 90.1% of summer corn has been sown, 76.9% of summer soybeans have been sown, and 80.2% of medium rice has been sown. Summer broadcasting in Henan and Shaanxi has basically ended, with nearly 90% in Anhui and Shandong, 80% in Hebei, and 70% in Jiangsu.
"In many places, wheat is harvested in the morning and corn is planted in the afternoon. Currently, the progress of summer sowing is faster than the same period last year, achieving suitable soil moisture and timing." The person in charge of the relevant department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs said that in the early stage, the progress of summer sowing was slow due to continuous cloudy and rainy weather, but various regions strengthened the scheduling of agricultural machinery to harvest quickly. In addition, with good soil moisture, summer harvest and summer sowing are steadily advancing.
