On August 15th, the first National Ecological Day was celebrated, and various forms of ecological civilization promotion and education activities were carried out in various regions.
The main event with the theme of "Green water and green mountains are golden mountains and silver mountains" was held in Huzhou City, Zhejiang Province. The National Ecological Status Change Survey and Assessment jointly completed by the Ministry of Ecological Environment and the Chinese Academy of Sciences showed that the national ecological status was generally stable and good.
At the home event, the National Development and Reform Commission issued a major announcement on the third anniversary of carbon peak and carbon neutrality. From 2021 to 2022, the intensity of carbon dioxide emissions decreased by 4.6%, and the "dual carbon" work achieved a good start. The latest achievements in building a beautiful China released by the National Forestry and Grassland Administration indicate that the quality of China's ecosystem is continuously improving.
On the first National Ecological Day, the Supreme People's Court issued two important judicial interpretations in the field of ecological environment protection, namely "Interpretation on Several Issues Concerning the Application of Law in the Trial of Ecological Environment Tort Liability Disputes" and "Several Provisions on Evidence in Civil Litigation of Ecological Environment Tort", further improving and perfecting the system of legal application rules for ecological environment trial, and promoting the high-quality development of ecological environment trial work.
On the 15th, the Supreme People's Procuratorate and the State Forestry and Grassland Administration issued the "Opinions on Establishing and Improving the Collaborative Mechanism between Forest and Grassland Administrative Law Enforcement and Public Interest Litigation". The opinion is clear that procuratorial organs and forestry and grass departments at all levels should focus on key areas of forestry and grass that infringe on national interests or public interests, especially illegal acts with serious circumstances, adverse effects, and refusal to rectify. They should strengthen law enforcement and judicial cooperation, and promote the formation of a new situation in the protection and governance of forestry and grass resources.
Recently, the Supreme People's Procuratorate, together with the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, conducted a list supervision on 11 cases of automatic monitoring data falsification and environmental pollution by key polluting units. The relevant heads of three departments stated that local case handling units should actively respond to the concerns of the people, conscientiously implement supervision requirements, strengthen cooperation and communication, form a special team for work, form a joint force for law enforcement and judicial crackdown, punish units involved and illegal criminals in accordance with the law, and effectively maintain national ecological security.

As the first National Ecological Day approaches, the Guangdong Provincial High People's Court introduces that the provincial courts are accelerating the construction of cross administrative judicial cooperation and multi departmental coordination mechanisms, and the diversified governance pattern of "collaborative protection" of the ecological environment is gradually improving. The courts of Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan, and Guizhou provinces jointly signed an agreement on the Xijiang Judicial Cooperation Protection Mechanism, carrying out judicial cooperation in accordance with the principles of "integrated protection of the river basin, sharing of resource information, and efficient and pragmatic work in accordance with the law.".
