Various early rice producing areas have taken multiple measures to actively respond to the "three encounters" agricultural meteorological disasters in Jiangxi | Hehua | Agriculture
CCTV News: Early rice is the second season of annual grain harvest in China. At present, it is the heading, flowering and filling period of early rice, and also the key period for yield formation. The recent high temperature, rainstorm and rice flowering in the south have brought many adverse effects on early rice production.
At present, major early rice producing areas are taking multiple measures to actively respond.
Jiangxi is one of the main early rice producing areas in China, with an early rice planting area of 18 million mu in the province this year. Since late June, Jiangxi has entered a period of concentrated rainfall, and some early rice fields have experienced the phenomenon of "rain washing the flowers". "Rain washed Hehua" refers to an agricultural meteorological disaster in which rice is washed away by heavy rainfall during the heading and flowering period, causing pollen loss and affecting pollination and fruiting. In response to this, the local government actively organized agricultural technicians to go deep into rural areas and provide guidance for farmers to scientifically respond and reduce the impact of disasters.
Chen Gensheng, the director of the Grain and Oil Crop Technology Promotion Station in Xiajiang County, Ji'an, Jiangxi Province: Firstly, timely drainage and flood prevention should be carried out to prevent early rice from being flooded, which may affect grain filling and fruiting; The second is to apply strong seed fertilizer to promote the rooting of early rice, form large panicles, and increase yield.
In Hunan, another major early rice producing province in China, it is also experiencing the phenomenon of "rain washing the flowers". In Gaojiatang Village, Suxian District, Chenzhou City, due to three days of continuous rainfall, some early rice fields have accumulated more than 30 centimeters of water. The local agricultural department has dispatched 140 "agricultural technology teams" to strengthen crop field management.
Wang Fei, Deputy Director of the Agricultural Comprehensive Service Center in Suxian District, Chenzhou City: In response to possible pests and diseases, timely use of corresponding pesticides for prevention and control.

In Fujian, the planting area of early rice this year is about 1.461 million mu. Affected by the current rainfall, rice paddies in Pucheng County, a major grain producing county, have accumulated water and crops have been flooded.
Hu Wenbin, an agricultural technician from Pucheng County, Nanping City, Fujian Province: We can now replant some varieties with a short growth period of 100 to 110 days. If some rice plants are flooded, measures such as supporting and washing seedlings can be implemented.
At present, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs has urgently issued technical opinions and dispatched six working groups to Hunan, Hubei, Jiangxi, Fujian, Guangdong, and Guangxi to guide disaster response work such as "rain washing and preventing heat damage".
