Overseas Network, June 20th (Xinhua) - According to a recent opinion poll by the Congressional Hill newspaper, the majority of African Americans believe that racism in the United States will become increasingly severe in their lifetime.
According to a joint survey conducted by The Washington Post and polling firm Ipsos, 51% of African Americans believe that racism in American society will become worse, 37% believe that the status quo will remain the same, and only 11% of respondents believe that the situation will improve. The opinions of respondents from different age groups on this issue are generally consistent. Nearly 70% of African Americans in the United States say that black youth in this era are more dangerous than they were back then. Nearly 60% of African American adults express great or some concern that they or their loved ones may be attacked due to their skin color.

The poll also found that there is a low level of trust between African Americans and white Americans in the United States. Eighty percent of African American respondents said they believe that white people do not trust African Americans very much or at all. Comparatively speaking, white respondents are more likely to express that they believe white people trust African Americans.
The public opinion survey was conducted from April 28th to May 12th. The respondents included 1225 African American adults and 1018 American adults.
