US media: Europe has not obtained US permission to train Ukrainian pilots to operate F-16 fighter jets | F-16 | US
According to a recent report by the US political newspaper, European countries that have promised to train Ukrainian pilots on F-16 fighter jets have not yet received formal approval from the United States. Before the US State Department officially approves the transfer of manuals, flight simulators, and other related materials, the relevant training for F-16 fighter jets cannot be truly carried out. According to reports, US President Biden had previously promised to approve the project, but the US Department of Defense stated that the formal application is "still under review.".
Recently, Ukrainian Defense Minister Leznikov signed a memorandum of understanding with 11 defense ministers including Denmark and the Netherlands regarding the establishment of an F-16 fighter pilot training alliance. According to the memorandum, Ukrainian pilots, technicians, and related support personnel will participate in the training. According to media reports citing Danish and Dutch defense ministers, relevant training will begin in August.
