US media: At least 38 human rights organizations oppose the US providing cluster ammunition to Ukraine, claiming it will threaten civilian life with ammunition | Ukraine | civilians
On July 8th, according to the Russian satellite news agency citing the website of the US newspaper Capitol Hill, at least 38 human rights organizations have publicly expressed opposition after the US approved the delivery of cluster ammunition to Ukraine.
These human rights organizations are concerned that cluster ammunition will pose a persistent risk of explosion, posing a threat to civilian life for several years. Human rights organizations have called for the removal of such ammunition and not to use the existence of cluster ammunition in Ukraine as an excuse to transport such weapons there. "They have spread throughout the country and should be cleared. This is not an excuse for the United States to transport more weapons."
On July 7th local time, Colin Karl, Deputy Secretary of Defense for Policy Affairs, announced that the latest Ukrainian aid program will provide additional artillery systems and ammunition, including cluster ammunition. On the same day, UN Secretary General's Deputy Spokesperson Hack responded by stating that the UN opposes the use of cluster ammunition on the Ukrainian battlefield.
