Until the New Year, Hong Kong Chief Executive Li Jiachao: strive to launch night activities around the Mid-Autumn Festival
After proposing the policy idea of "revitalizing night markets" recently, Hong Kong Chief Executive Lee Ka chao also provided a schedule for the plan today.
According to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government News Bulletin, on August 27th, the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, Li Jiachao, led bureau level officials to attend the second regional consultation meeting of the 2023 Policy Address, continuing to listen to the opinions and suggestions of regional people on the new Policy Address. The event was held at Sha Tin Government Secondary School, attended by approximately 120 citizens from different backgrounds, along with all 21 bureau level officials.
According to the website of Radio Hong Kong, Li Jiachao said in an interview with the media on the 27th that he would strive to launch night activities around the Mid-Autumn Festival and make good use of the National Day holiday until the New Year.
Li Jiachao said that the Financial Secretary and Deputy Secretary of Hong Kong have carried out relevant work, and he has also proposed to listen to opinions more, gather industry strength, absorb different people's ideas and practices, liberate the mind, and "liven up" and "promote" night activities to drive economic benefits. He said that the work of "revitalizing" night activities needs to be continuously done, which can be implemented in stages, while also constantly reviewing, injecting new elements, expanding content, and constantly adding fun.
Li Jiachao also mentioned that we need to face labor shortages in the short term, but we believe that business and regional people will have innovative ideas, and Hong Kong people are also very resilient and able to handle different challenges. As long as everyone helps each other, he himself has confidence in revitalizing night activities in Hong Kong.
Previously, the Financial Secretary of Hong Kong, Chan Mo po, proposed in his online essay on August 13 that "in the short term, we need to work together with the industry to revitalize and prosper Hong Kong's night markets, better consolidate various economic links in the recovery, and maintain the momentum of recovery. In the medium to long term, we need to continue to add momentum to Hong Kong's development. This government is determined to promote the development of innovation and technology, and to make it one of the important engines for promoting high-quality economic development in Hong Kong."
According to a report by Hong Kong's China News Agency, it is the first time that officials have publicly mentioned the night market economy in Hong Kong, which has experienced strong post pandemic recovery.
On August 20th, Li Jiachao led bureau level officials to attend the 2023 Policy Address regional consultation meeting, directly listening to the opinions and suggestions of local people on the second Policy Address of this government. According to local media reports in Hong Kong, Li Jiachao said that in the short term, it is particularly important to "revitalize night markets" and achieve economic benefits. The government will actively promote related activities; In the long run, it is necessary to optimize the tourism industry in response to potential changes in tourist travel habits, shifting from traditional shopping to deep tourism. Therefore, the government needs to promote distinctive routes, including culture, cuisine, historical sites, etc. The government will also continue to promote Hong Kong to the outside world.
