Unswervingly Adhering to the Red Line of Cultivated Land: The momentum of reducing the total amount of cultivated land in the country has been curbed. Land Day | National | Cultivated Land
Xinhua News Agency, Nanjing, June 25th (Xinhua) - It was learned from the 33rd National "Land Day" main event held in Nanjing, Jiangsu on the 25th that the continuous decline in China's total arable land has been preliminarily curbed.
Liu Guohong, a member of the Party Group and Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Natural Resources, revealed here that in recent years, the sustained and rapid reduction of arable land in the country has been initially curbed through a package of measures such as stabilizing the total amount, optimizing the layout, and consolidating responsibilities. It is reported that the total arable land area in China reached 1.914 billion mu in 2022, an increase of about 1.3 million mu compared to the end of the previous year, and has achieved a net increase in the total arable land for two consecutive years.
We will resolutely promote conservation and intensification, and unwaveringly abide by the red line of arable land. It is reported that the natural resources department will strictly adhere to the bottom line of resource security and take "long teeth" hard measures to firmly adhere to the red line of cultivated land; Optimize the spatial pattern of national territory, strictly control and efficiently allocate land resources; Promote green and low-carbon development, and continuously improve the efficiency of land resource utilization; Maintain the rights and interests of resource assets, and overall enhance the level of natural resource governance capabilities.
The theme of the National Land Day during the 14th Five Year Plan period was to conserve and intensively use land and strictly adhere to the red line of cultivated land. In order to do a good job in protecting arable land and conserving intensive land use, the natural resources department will vigorously promote the conservation of intensive land use, reduce the occupation of arable land, improve the efficiency of construction land use, and leave more fertile land for agriculture; On the one hand, strict protection of arable land forces conservation and intensive land use, solidifies the foundation of national food security, and promotes green transformation and development.
Vice Governor of Jiangsu Province, Xia Xinmin, introduced that Jiangsu Province has always adhered to ecological priority and green development, completed the task of protecting arable land with quality and quantity, and filled the granary of the great country while securing the rice bowl; We will make every effort to improve the quality and efficiency of industrial land, deepen the implementation of the "storage increase linkage" mechanism for construction land, and systematically carry out integrated protection and restoration of mountains, rivers, forests, fields, lakes, grasslands, and sands. Resolutely eliminate disorderly expansion, extensive utilization, and inefficient development, and strive to achieve a positive interaction between high-level protection and high-quality development.
The 33rd National Land Day main event is jointly hosted by the Ministry of Natural Resources and the People's Government of Jiangsu Province. The event also released a series of books on the achievements of the national "three surveys" and newly revised control indicators for industrial project construction land.
