On October 9, 2021, the Central Ecological Environment Protection Inspection Group reported that Changyang Tujia Autonomous County in Yichang City, Hubei Province had insufficient understanding of the protection of important ecological functional areas in the Three Gorges Reservoir Area, and there were deviations in development concepts. According to insiders, the Danshui diversion project was constructed by a company. After completion, Changyang County allocated a piece of land on the right bank of Danshui to the company to offset the project funds.
