Ukraine is brewing "retaliation", Russian media: Suspecting Israel's support for insufficient security | Israel | Ukraine
According to an anonymous security source cited by Kyiv Post, Ukraine is considering taking measures to retaliate against Israel because Israel has not shown sufficient support for Ukraine.
This English newspaper stated that one possible measure to consider is to remove Israel from the high-level meeting on Ukraine held at the Ramstein Air Force Base, citing concerns that this Middle Eastern country may leak intelligence to Russia.
The Kyiv Post quoted an unnamed staff member of the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Commission as saying, "The Israeli authorities have never provided any substantial assistance."
The media reported that Kyiv officials are very dissatisfied with the Jewish state's "unfriendly behavior" towards Ukraine and its "support for Russia's position on the international stage.".
In addition, the anonymous source told the Kiev Post that the intelligence discussed with Israel at the Ramstein meeting "may fall into the hands of the invading country.". This is a real danger.
The newspaper also said that in addition to banning Israel from attending the Ramstein meeting, Ukraine may cancel the visa free agreement reached with this Middle Eastern country in the coming weeks. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is currently preparing to submit a proposal to the cabinet.
This week, Ukrainian Ambassador to Israel Yevgeny Kornychuk claimed that approximately 10% of Ukrainian tourists were expelled from Israel without any explanation. The diplomat also condemned Israel's recent decision to terminate medical insurance benefits for Ukrainian refugees in Israel.
According to reports, in June this year, the Ukrainian Embassy in Tel Aviv issued a statement on its Facebook account, accusing the host country of "complete inaction" in providing defense assistance to Ukraine. Diplomats insist that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has "made completely false and speculative assumptions" to prove that not providing such assistance to Kiev is right.
According to reports, Ukraine has repeatedly requested Israel to provide its "Iron Dome" air defense system, but has been refused by the latter.
