US Report: Nearly 90% of the unemployed population in the United States is black, and the unemployment rate is twice that of white people. | US | Population
On July 10th, according to the website of the U.S. Capitol Hill, a new report released by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics showed that since April, nearly 90% of the unemployed in the United States have been black.
The report states that there have been 300000 new unemployment cases since the spring of this year, with approximately 267000 black workers. At present, the unemployment rate for black Americans in the United States is 6%, almost twice the unemployment rate for white people of 3.1%. Due to increased concerns about the upcoming economic recession, the unemployment rate has remained at a low level, but the unemployment rate is not consistent among different groups. The Hispanic unemployment rate also rose to 4.3% during the same period.
William Rogers, director of the St. Louis Federal Reserve Institute for Economic Equity, said that if the situation continues to worsen or even accelerate, the benefits for black workers and other vulnerable groups may rapidly decrease.
